Hi!!! That's me, Mike. Welcome to the photo pages The first thing to consider is location. It needs to be in a sunny spot that is very visible to you. About 4 hours is a minumum amount of sun the spot should get. Next to my deck is where I chose to put mine. The ground however was not flat so I had to construct this retaining wall to create a flat area. This was by far the most work in the project. |

Almost complete at this stage. I made a smaller area to the left to place a Japanese Maple. It came out much better then I thought it would. I think a Japanese maple and a pond just go together... | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Now it is filled with top soil and tamped down well. The black stuff you see over the edge of the wall is a landscape fabric. This will help keep the dirt from migrating between the stones. |

Now the brick pavers where laid on a bed of compacted sand. All thats left to do is sweep in more fine sand between the pavers to lock them in place. More dirt was added to the pond area and leveled out. Getting the pond as level as you can will pay off. Water will lay level, so if the pond isn't level the liner will show and not look professional. Prep work really pays off. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
