Second Year Photos
With the plants established and a few more added it looks much better this year. For you gardeners out there, any tips on plant selections around the pond? E-mail me , you can find the E-mail address on the main page, just click the water lily to take you there.
A closer look at the pond shows some fish. I added three Goldfish and a dozen mosquito fish. The water is crystal clear thanks to all the plants. If you have algae problems, add more plants. Especially the oxyegenators and floaters. They really filter the water well. I had pea soup water in the spring before I got the plants in.
There is no need to feed the fish at all. They will eat insects and the plants.
I like to feed them though for the fun of it. Just don't over feed them. Only put in what they can eat in about five minutes.
I named the three fish Larry, Curly and Moe. They are really putting on some size!  They know its feeding time when they see me now. They come up to the surface with there mouths open ready for food.
I counted the different types of plants just around the pond one day.  In this small area I had about 35 types including the ones in the pond. I add more from time to time but its getting pretty full!
