These are just a few of the things that I am trying to do for training. If you can think of any fun training ideas for me to try, or would like to send me some words of encouragement, please do. I will be updating my training page from time to time as I add new activities to my training schedule.
This is me after about 40 minutes on the treadmill. Looking good!! This is what I feel like when I am running on the treadmill. Who invented these things? These videos are from last year, but things haven't changed. The picture is from this year. I know, I know. I am wearing the same clothes!! Don't worry I did wash them.
For those that do not have video capabilities, try this still shot. Amazingly, I am wearing the same outfit from last year's videos. Kind of spooky how that worked out. The only difference is the hat. Don't worry, I did wash the clothes in between runs!!
This is me at the end of the workout.
I have upped my work out schedule to M/W/F now. I still do the treadmill on these days due to my travels, but am always looking for new trails to run and people to meet. Drop me a line if you want to go running.
I am still doing my Saturday long runs. I run wherever I find myself for the weekend (unless I am ice climbing :-) Usually I wake up and hit the road or trail. Lately, it has been in Texas.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I have cross training days. These days are designed for exercise other than just running. This gives me a chance to build up my cardio-vascular endurance through multiple channels. It also gives me a break to get off of my feet!!
Lately, I find myself swimming in the lovely downtown Hershey area in Pennsylvania. The pool was built in the 1920s. Amazing.
Weight training is also a part of my cross training. After I run on the treadmill for my scheduled time, I try and get in a light work out also.
Since I am back in Texas, I am back to playing roller hockey again. I am trying to put together a new team, so let me know if you are interested in playing. The Chiefs may live again!!
Now that I am gone from Chicago, I guess I won't be playing any more 16 inch softball games. I will have to dust off my glove again. I think my fingers are happy about this. Texans play 12 inch games.
That is supposed to be a mountain biker. I will see if I can get a better GIF. Anyway, this one is new to me. I do know one thing - mountain bike + triathalon = slow :-)
The Sierra Club puts on a hike every Tue and Thur in Griffith Park. I have been doing these hikes for sometime now on Teu nights. It is great fun with great people. These hikes can be quite strenuous. Bring your hiking boots and some water. The hikes last about 2 hours. You see some amazing views of the Los Angeles area from up there.
