The City
Angel: Strong and unforgiving, Angel is the Den leader of Nest 902. He essentially controls the economy of The City and runs a brisk slave trade with Aymir, the recruiter. Readers of Red Sky will remember that Angel has ties with Nytala, Phoenyx Aryzona and Melissa Drake. On this side of the River, Angel has chosen Phoenyx as his Queen. This doesn't stop him from taking Melissa and Tyrhennia on the side, though, and he even makes a play for Intrigue.
Melissa Drake: Desperate for security after Intrigue leaves the Nest, Melissa allows Angel, her owner and idol, to take her blood and her life. She fades quickly from Angel's favorite list. As in Red Sky, Melissa is a pawn in Angel's game.
Nytala: Although she was adored by Angel as a human and became his first Nest member, Nytala has resigned herself to the rank of 'slave'. Unknown to Angel, she had his son, Aymir, and would go to any lengths to save him.
Phoenyx: Readers of Red Sky will remember Phoenyx as the tragic girl unjustly convicted of the murder of her abusive husband. She found solace in Angel after being forced into a vampiric life, and betrayed the entire world for a chance to be with him. On this side of the river, Phoenyx is Angel's always-jilted Queen--regal and overlooked until a foray with both sunlight and stakes leaves her parched and next to death.
Myst: Beautiful and prestigious, Myst owns and operates Asylum, a bar and whorehouse. She attempts to cover her beauty with makeup to avoid being confronted by Asylum's patrons. .
David Throckett: Drunkard Dave is the old and ugly cousin of Nytala. He was charged with taking care of Aymir, but spends all his time swilling down Vomit in Asylum.
Crystal Ivora: As if the necessity of her murder in Red Sky hadn't been enough, on this side of the River, Crystal is a deformed monster who keeps the least-visited upstairs room in Asylum. Fate again positions her opposite our forever-heroine.
Clayton: Clayton is the leader of Den 513, and his life is threatened when he runs afoul of the infamous Angel.
