Justification relevance of the action to the objectives of the programme
Ø The orphans and destitute children are increasing day and day as the Aids virus is
spreading like a burning bush especially in Africa making people to concentrate in
other issues other than taking care of the orphans left behind and poverty and
irresponsibility which has increased destitute children in Towns and Villages.
Ø This will enable many people know what is happening with our children who are
the future generation who needs to be taken care of to have quality life. This process
will help a good number than present as it will also be enlighten women on how to be
independent.

1.6 Relevance of the action to the priorities of the programme
Ø Orphans and destitute children in Towns and Villages and affected women will
benefit from the programme direct. Whoever has the needy children will be free
to give ideas on how can help our children. And seminars will be called to share
the ideas for the subject by anybody. The centers are expected to increase effect
trickle down to the villages and other areas of Kenya.

Identification of perceived needs and constraints in target Countries
Ø Children and women are chosen for this project because of their lacking parents
and rich families to enable the children have quality life. And who lack counseling
on how they should live in a peaceful families or the children are the most affected
in the family especially when there is a dispute between the parents. This can be
achieved after stopping violence against women in our societies Children are our
future leaders to represent the current generation, we must take care of them now.

List of target groups and estimated number of direct and indirect beneficiaries
Ø This project is the surest way of reaching and caring for orphans, destitute children
and address family affairs in all levels of our societies to their role in social and
economic well being. The project is therefore very important in building homes,
identifying the correct children and more so counsel the families on how to have
peaceful families not to result in family breakage and affect children. Parents need
to be counseled on how to be responsible to their families' affairs and not being
violent deserting their children in the streets without providing them with basic needs.

Reasons for the selection of the target groups and activities
Ø In African Countries in particular we have seen how were brought up in a very
sympathetic, worrying, delicacy way, which resulted from poor governance which
have addressed the issues of orphans, destitute children which are brought by
breaking of families which affect children and nobody comes out to address these
issues because of the deep rooted culture which hinder women or small children
to speak boldly on what is affecting no matter to which extent because they fear
to rectify the mistakes of the parents. The people who get the close of what happens
to their parents are the children, which leave them in desperate mood without
anybody to take care of them because of poverty within them or families.
Ø The number of orphans and destitute children is increasing in homes and streets
in Kenya because of poor planning and lack of proper counseling in our families.
Ø Very few groups are existing which cannot take care of these children of which
Rafiki Caring Home wants to extend the hand beyond other organization to safeguard
the fundamental rights of children in Kenya.

Relevance of the action to the target groups
Ø The project is aimed at promoting social welfare and economic life of children
and families domestic problems in the country. The project was conceived after
noting the increase of destitute children in the Kenyan families and streets, which
comes out of family problems caused by parents.

Ø There is therefore a great need to address this situation by setting homes for
destitute children and orphans and counsel the affected families and others not
to be involved in such actions and build the   capacity of orphans and destitute
children to be creative in their activities which can improve them socially and
economically.

1.7
Ø The project will be setting Homes for orphans, destitute children, set funds for
their education in their centers homes, feeding them, clothing them, counseling
them on different issues like drugs and other related things, teaching them on
how to be creative positively, teaching them how to utilize their resources
productively and guide them on how to be independent after maturity. In family
affairs we will utilize workshops, seminars and informal & formal dialogue
meetings to reach the affected families in Kenya, publication of relevance
magazines, Brochures, setting libraries, setting education centers in different
parts of Kenya.

The following activities will be undertaken to achieve the objectives of this project: -

Ø Identification of the centers and branch leaders and individual children who are
affected out of family problems.
Ø This will form the grand work of Rafiki Caring Home, and will be done by the Staff
of Rafiki Caring Home from the National office and assisted by the local offices at
the grassroots, to identify and screen children who are targeted and counsel families
affairs as it result to the suffering of the children.  The activity will incorporate the
preparation of a questionnaire to gather information on the orphans, destitute
children and families for family affairs for children's particular strengths, needs and
challenges. Each family has problems but most of the African families have
common characteristics. Rafiki Caring Home officials will identify cross cutting
themes on the issues affecting orphans and destitute children and families. This
activity will be useful in gathering information on particular challenges and matters
of interest that impact on orphans destitute children and the affected families.
So that they can be addressed at the workshops.

Establishment of Branch Linkages
Ø The identified centers and branch leaders will form branch level network for the
organization. Their address, telephone will be established for easy communication
and flow of information when the project is on the move.

Development of training materials.
Ø Training materials to be used in the organization will be developed depending
on the needs expressed in activity. These will include development of posters,
booklets, Brochures. Such material will contain children and family affairs in
various sectors.

Feeding programmes, providing clothes, building homes, educating the children
Ø This is the major concern for the organization we need to build caring homes
for HIV/AIDS orphans, destitute children where they can real find peace as most
of the children we noted that they not only are neglected by their parents but
also deserted by them because some relatives don't want them, some relatives
have no money to look after them and some parents don't want to care for their
own children because of domestic problems like difference in parents. In these
homes we need to set funds for food, clothing's for them and more so to set fund
for their education which will make them to be creative and become independent
in future.
Ø Education is the long run way of investment as they get knowledge to enable them
care for themselves in when they mature.

Formal and informal dialogue meetings
Ø This constitute informal format & interviews and discussion with opinion from
parents, leaders, legal experts, children, and any other person who may wish to
advise the organization on any technical matters for the purpose of children welfare.

Publications
Ø The discussions in meetings must be open to the public to address the issues
affecting the HIV/AIDS orphans, destitute children and the causes of family problems
in our societies which affects children as they become either orphans or destitute.
This can be done through, magazines, brochures, booklets, posters and any other
way, which may proof good. This will give the talented brains to advice the best way
to do and help children and the affected families.

Evaluation
Ø Internal and external evaluation of the project will be done periodically to establish
the suitability of the methods used and its degrees of success.

1.8
Methods of implementation
Ø The Rafiki Caring Home will use partipatory in the set homes in different centers to
gather the people to share ideas. This will enable the organization to get the target
group we want i.e. the orphans & destitute children and get commons problems which
result the status of orphans and destitute in our societies.
Ø This will include use of drama, discussion, lectures, relevance songs from children and
seniors. Questions and answer, and other ways the participants are best able to express
themselves to the relevance of the idea. This will address the issue of which makes
parents to punish children for their personal problems in bedroom, and this can identify
the problem and the possible solutions and resources to meet those need and
challenges vis a avis their daily life.

Reasons for the proposed methodology
Ø This method is to make it open to the public that there are homes for orphans,
destitute homes where anybody can identify children with similar problems and bring
the child who can be of a relative, collected child on the street, bush e.t.c to be taken
care of. And not only taking care of children but parents can be counseled as family
problems result to all these things to children.
Ø Again this method can result to both excellent and sustainable solutions as they
will discuss, sing relevant songs, which will lead to solutions of the problems addressed
by the public. It will also allow the opportunity to learn and discover the importance
of peaceful families and counsel, expert for problem solving, analysis and children based
decision making on matters affecting the parents. By hearing the experiences of others,
seeing the orphans and destitute children in Rafiki Homes are likely to change their
attitudes about effectiveness, by developing a positive family responsibity more so to
children. This method will make many people get the knowledge to educate others,
hence reducing the suffering of children.

How the project intends to build on a previous project or previous activities (where
applicable)
Ø Rafiki caring Home has facilitated strategic framework on orphans, destitute children
and family affairs, which is addressed by these proposed project.

Procedures for internal evaluation
Ø The Rafiki Caring Home will use the services of a treasure and appointed qualified
accountant to keep the books and ensure that monies meant for a particular activities
are utilized in that particular manner. Adherence to budget guidelines and proper book
keeping procedures will prevent misappropriation of funds. An external Auditor will
review the books of account every six months. This will bring confident amongst the
Board members of the organization and do more for the children.

Level of investment and activity of other organization (partners or others) in the project
Ø Rafiki Caring Home shares interest on children issues and family affairs with such
organization as the Kenya children groups, the involvement of these other actors will
be at the level of dissemination of reports and other information across and beyond
the country.
Ø This project will be carried out by the staff of the Rafiki Caring Home with the help
of consultants including education planners, senior orphans cares, teachers, parents,
and experts in the field from Kenya or beyond the media, social planners, economic
planners. There will be also Accountants and Auditors for evaluation purposes.

1.9
Ø The duration of the project indefinite (no limit)

2.1 Estimated impact on target groups
Ø How the project will improve the situation of the target groups.
Ø It is expected that at the end of the first three years of the project the good number
of parents shall have seen the importance of having peaceful families for the purpose
of protecting their children through good social behavior and economic life by becoming
responsible. The selected orphans and destitute children must have seen the
importance of being educated and being creative to improve their social welfare and
improve their economic standard by simply becoming creative in their activities. Their
increased awareness will lead to greater improvement for parents to children relationship
in our families and their equal responsibility towards children in the society. It will also
enlighten families (parents) to address the major problems they are facing in their families
and set their solutions on the same i.e. being responsible to children. This project
will give access for all destitute children and HIV/AIDS orphans an opportunity of being
educated and utilizing their skills in a productive way to benefit them in the future
through earning.
Ø The immediate result of the project is that there will be increased community awareness
of the importance of unity in the family and fundamental rights of children whether
HIV/AIDS orphans or destitute children in our society. Parents & others can attend
seminars, workshops, meetings to get information about the importance of having
peaceful families. This will enable parents to look into problems that face them in daily
life and look for solutions from experts.
Ø The project will target orphans, destitute children and counsel parents already affected
by family problems. Awareness raising about the responsibility of parents as children will
heighten the sensitivity of taking care of them. Children to provide them with basic need
and protect their rights. The project will create a sense of being responsible parents.

2.2 Publication and other output
Ø The project will produce workshop reports, discussion papers, pamphlets, fact sheet,
Brochures, Magazines, Posters. In every three months 1000 of these will be produced,
and additional copies photocopied depending on demand. Materials bearing this
information will be available at the Rafiki Caring Home Schools. In the Country and
distribution will be during workshops, meetings, seminars and any other way may
be decided by the meeting. Using the post, and other network to get the right people.
