Ok , here are a few more picklocks by request. The first is a very cute 6-1/2" B.Svoboda with killer black and white scales. This was Ring Cutlery and they imported knives from Germany, Japan and Italy with their stamp. Next is an 8" Romo. I also have a German made leverlock that has the exact tang stamp. Romo was the trade name of a New York importer that was originally named Rosenbaum& Mogal in the early 1900's, and then operated as Mitchell Mogal Inc. from then on. They also imported knives from Italy , Germany, and Japan with the Romo tang stamp. The next is a very early 11" M.Italy, then a sweet 11" Latama. The Latama name was an abreviation for "Latin American" knife co. They are among the best quality of all of the 1950's stilettos, and the most desired by collectors. They had a wholesale display room on Broadway in the 50's and sold all types of cutlery from Italy.. The stilettos were only considered "novelties". The feature photo is a 13" Mauro Mario that has an even distribution of transluscent green , white, and black on the front scales. There's just something about an old 13" picklock.... |
