As Mai, Warren, Kylie, and Ares watch from the stands, Yoshimuri the Third and Belemon prepare for combat.
"This should be interesting," Warren comments.
"Interesting or not, it's going to be dangerous." Mai shakes her head in concern. "For both of them. Neither one is the type to back down."
Warren shrugs. "It's not like we could even stop them if we wanted to. All we can do is watch."
In the Grand Arena, the two begin their battle. (shown)
Yoshimuri narrowly avoids Belemon's Shadow Bind spell, and then the real fight begins.
Ares wonders why he can't feel Bel's power (shown) and Mai explains: "It's because of another spell - one that Bel uses on himself almost continuously. The spell is designed to maintain peak performance, despite distraction or fatigue. In the case of a Minion, it means he can fight to his maximum ability without drawing power himself. The spell does it for him."
"If it keeps every aspect of his ability at maximum," Warren coments, "it's no wonder Yosh is having a hard time."
"What do you mean?"
"Traditional fighters have to split the power we draw," Warren explains. "Speed, strength, our shield - each uses a portion of our total power. If Belemon is always as strong as he can be, always as fast... If Yosh pours all his power into speed I'm sure he could catch Belemon, but he wouldn't be strong enough - his shield not firm enough - to damage him."
"That's crazy!" Ares says, amazed. "Someone would have to be twice or even three times as strong as Belemon to even have a chance."
Warren nods grimly. "That's more or less the case."
Yoshimuri's redoubled effort against Belemon causes a strong reaction in Kylie and she collapses. Yosh's incredible surge of power catches even Belemon by suprise (shown), but the magician is able to summon a quick flare of power himself and escapes the Feloran prince.
"Warren!" Ares shouts.
"I felt it too. Belemon can draw his own power in addition to what that spell gives him. That's insane."
"Not to mention highly dangerous!" Mai tells them. "The strain on his body must be tremendous!"
Meanwhile, Belemon suggests a rest, but Yoshimuri responds with a huge beam of aetherial energy!
