| Everline finds herself in a city under attack. The city itself does not look familiar to her, but those attacking it do. The Taeline. A Telarian warrior who calls himself Jerles finds Everline and tells her to follow him away from the fighting. The world was Telar itself - and the Telarians had lost the war with the Taeline who now held more than a third of the galaxy under their control. Everline fears for Felora and Earth, but Jerles refuses to speak further until they get to safety... |

| Before they can get very far, Everline and Jerles are confronted by a cloaked and hooded figure. "Did you believe you could do this without my knowledge?" he asks of Jerles. "Foolish kitten. What were you planning? Did you think to convince her to abandon her destiny? Did you think to change history itself?" Everline recognizes the voice as that of the warrior Alisten, but does not interrupt. "There was always a second option," Jerles points out. "Yes. I suppose you could just kill her." Much to Everline's suprise, Jerles attempts just that, but is stopped by the cloaked Alisten. "So predictable, kitten. Your own violent nature betrays your true motives. I truly was worried that I'd have to argue at length to gain her trust. I'm certain, however, that saving her from you will hasten that proccess greatly." "Then I suppose I have only one more option." Jerles says. "Oh? How interesting. Tell me." "Even if history can't be changed, even if all Telar is lost, it will all be worth it if I can only kill you!" With that, Jerles launches an all out attack against Alisten! |

Alisten removes the cloak and answers Jerles' attack with one of his own. The Telarian, strong as he is, does not come close to matching the Feloran warrior. It is finished in moments, and Alisten stands ready to deliver the final blow when Everline intercedes. "Spare him." "Empress," he responds, "you don't know what you're asking." "I'm not asking," she tells him. "I'm commanding. Or do you no longer obey my commands, Straxus?" 'Alisten' smiles grimly. "...Of course I do...Empress." |
