Meanwhile, Everline is still undergoing the Inquiry.  She again finds herself in a void, where she meets what appears to be her father, Vague, and an old man who calls himself Euridice.  Everline, however, refuses to play along.
"God, we've done this already.  Remember?  We fought.  I blew up the world.  It wasn't pretty.  So, what the hell is going on here?"
They tell her that they've come to show her what the whole thing was about.  To do so, Euridice draws upon the power of the two, and when he does Cinder goes through a startling transformation...
With the power of Vague and the transformed Cinder, along with Euridice's magic, the old man and Everline are whisked away to a ruined landscape.  There, they witness a titanic battle in progress, but before they can get closer, Salio arrives to stop them!  Despite the cleric's warnings, Euridice defies his commands to leave.  The old man is certain that even the powers that Salio serves would be unable to take action against them, and the cleric is unable to prove him wrong.  Euridice would show Everline the truth behind the Inquiry - the reason it was happening - and then it would be done with.
Everline gets a glimpse at what the Inquiry was all about, and Euridice explains what she is seeing:
"The turning point.  A glimpse at either the doom or salvation of all of existance.  All eyes are upon it, yet none can see past it."
Salio adds, "The greatest of powers demand to know what leads to this moment...What determines its nature...The Inquiry must be completed."
"Because of a fight," Everline comments, not amused.
  "The outcome of which
you will determine," Sallio tells her.  "The outcome of which will effect all of existance."
Despite that, Everline refuses to go through the Inquiry any further, and another arrives to back her - Belemon, who arrives quite suddenly accompanied by three towering figures...
