"Come and trip into my mind, come and see what's in store for you..."
One of my favorite bands is no more. They released two albums in their relatively short life, Honey Lake in 1996, and Disfigured in 1999.
aleixa... pronounced "ah-LEE-kah." Always spelled with a lowercase A, grammr rules be damned! ;) Not to be confused with Alexia, or Alexis. They made two albums and a few cover songs under this band name. The founder, Kevin 131, started this project under the name Sorrow of Seven. According to some old info from the now-deceased official aleixa web site, he changed the name because he noticed that there were too many bands with "seven" in their name.
There were a few demo tapes released under the Sorrow of Seven name. Kevin made some of those songs available for download for a short time, on the aleixa web site. One of the more interesting songs is a cover of Shirley Temple's "On The Good Ship Lollipop." A really fun cover song.
I made my own aleixa "best of" compilation, featuring my favorites from the two albums and a few other "non-album" tracks. (Click here to see the track listing.)

aleixa's cover of the song "Makes Me Wanna Sing." One of the best covers from this tribute.![]()
Flying Tart Records presents: Christmas in Heaven -- 1996
- Track 3 -- Tennessee Christmas
So, you've heard Amy Grant's music, and remember the 'sweet,' reflective, acoustic guitar song "Tennessee Christmas?" Well, are you in for a surprise if you get to listen to this aleixa cover. It starts out with a jingle-bell laden dance beat and Amy Grant singing the first lines of "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing." Then they launch into the song, but in a synthpop style rather than an industrial sound... until the bridge part, whatever it's called, when we finally get to hear some thrashing guitars. Unfortunately the guitar part isn't too long. One of my favorite christmas songs.
