Advanced Crew
For some Volunteers the ride started on Thursday 25th November, @ 07:30 am. All Trucks containing equipment required for the ride was loaded and driven up to the Campsite at Koroit Recreation Sporting Reserve From the Sunshine office. It was one long drive to there and the scenery was spectaculars. Being on the Campsite team is one great way to get a hands on approach on how things run on such a big ride as this. But this year was a bigger challenge. The average rider ratio is about 4000. This year it hit the 8000 + (mainly due to the free bike giveaway) and not to mention the ride around the Great Ocean road. Loading all the gear for the ride is not an easy job. Having to ensure that evrything needed is on the check list is accountable. Then their is the allocations on who is to drive what up to Koroit, from Ute's to Semi Trailers. Safty is a must when traveling as well. We ensure that each driver has a passenger for company, because it can get boring driving on your own. Had lunch in a small town of Colac which was a nice time to streach those legs as well then headed off to Koroit and start setting up and catch up with the others.
George Giles & Ray Barry load the gennies for the trip to Koroit
