This would be a challenge for the Campsite team. Setting up for 8500 riders. The campsite was split into 3 area's. This was due to no place available to take such a large number. On the main Oval the catering tent was placed and the 5 Star around that. 5 Star was those who paid for tents to be put up for them which is a good way to save time and space in your bag. The riders enjoyed the ride from Port Fairy which was an easy 46km ride. Weather was on thier side as well with a slight breeze. most riders took their time while other took it like a tour de France. The first problem was that we had to get 63 buses on the site and 12 trucks. A few of the bues lost their allocated nubers and this made it hard when riders came in looking for their luggage. A lot of screaming and yelling was done by them and not a happy mob at all. Most were annoid with the line to the showers and the dinner line as well. And the line to the loo's .... well thats another story!!!. The locals invited us to there Bingo night which was a hoot as well. Seemed that those who attened had a great time. |

Day 2 Port Campbell |

Did not get much time to look around at this site. Was on the go all the time. Started the day @ 6 am and clocked off around 11pm. Riders still not happy with the service provided on the ride. Most had never been on one while others just took it as it came. Had to ask on rider to move his tent from under the truck. Will say that he was not a happy chappy and said things that you would not say to your mother. I kept my cool and coaxed him into moving in the end. He did catch up with me in the end and appolgised for his attitude. See riders do have a heart!!!!. |
