Club History

Chartered more than a decade ago, the Rotary Club of Suburban East Rizal (RCSER) comprised of young and successful professionals, high ranking government officials, businessmen and other discipline, had already come surging on top of the heap. Consistent with the Rotary Credo of "SERVICE ABOVE SELF", the club had undertaken and continues to pursue projects with the objective of alleviating the lives of our less fortunate brothers in our community.

RCSER had carved a name for itself that is synonymous with dedication, integrity, sincerity and hard work in serving human ity. In carrying out the objectives of rotary, the club undisputedly carried it out under an atmosphere of fellowship, goodwill and camaraderie among members.

The club hosted several district events in the past 14 years of its existence. In RY 1994-95 under the leadership of Charter President Louie Ticman, it hosted the District Palarotary and the District Shootfest, wherein the club won the championship in practical shooting. In RY 1996-1997 under the leadership of Past President Cho Botor, the club hosted the District Tennis Tournament, District Billiard Tournament dabbed as "Unang Tumbukan", and the  District Mass Induction. It was the very first mass induction held for the entire District 3800. In RY 2000-2001 under  Past President Arnold Tumaob, our club again hosted the District Tennis Tournament. The club got the overall team champhionship both on mens and womens categories. In RY 2001-2002 under Past President August Angala, the club hosted the District Forum on Crime Prevention. In RY 2002-2003 under the leadership of Past President Jun Lugtu, the club hosted the District Duckpin Tournament. In RY 2003-2004 under the leadership of Past President Gene Gonzaga, the club hosted the District Assembly. It was considered as one of the most important rotary activity wherein all incoming officers and board members are required to attend. It was held on May 16-18, 2004 at Crown Peak Gardewn Hotel, Upper Cubi, Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

For the centennial year 2004-2005, under the leadership of President Elsa Lacuna, significant projectsw were undertaken which is considered a first and milstone in the history of the club. All these projects made a tremendous impact in the history of the club. As a result, the club received numerous awards both from the District and Rotary International. A total of 18 awards were gathered by the club. To mention a few, are the following: RI Significant Achievement Award, RI Public Image Award, Most Outstanding Rotary Club, Most Outstanding Centennial President, Most Outstanding Centennial Project, Most Outstanding Rotary Club on Club Service, and Highest in TRF contribution in Absolute and per capita.

The theme for RY 2005-2006 is "Service Above Self". It was back to basic and it best describe the leadership style of our club's serving president Reynaldo "Rey" Bautista. His dedication and humbleness exemplifies the ideals of rotary and once again will carve his name in the Rotary world as our club earned the distinction of having the Most Number  RCC Organized in the whole District 3800.

Our club plays a vital role  in today's society and will play an even more important role in the future. With a theme "Lead the Way" for RY 2006-2007, Leading President Tet Requiso will lead the way for our club to undertake projects and programs relevant to the needs of our community. Our club were able handle projects that focuses on literacy, health and hunger and water management. Some of the projects are: Early Intervention in Reading, Feeding Program, Scholarship Grant, Computer Literacy Program, Construction of Drinking Water Station, etc. On the same year,  Our club also hosted the District Forum entitled "ON TO SALT LAKE CITY" . This is another first in the history of the district since it is first time the district hosted such a forum that focused on some tips on how to get a visa for the RI convention.

RCSER were able lead the way in showing that fellowship and service can make a big difference to the lives of many people and that includes us. We will continue leading the way in building a better future for all of us.
