away.  And the Lord said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of
Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria: And Jehu
the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son
of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room.  And it
shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu
slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.".  So
you see, it wasn't some dramatic means that the Lord chose to speak to Elijah.
It was a small still voice.
We need to practice listening for this same voice.  By that I don't mean
that we should hear 'voices', just one very quiet, very comforting voice,
which probably will tell us very quietly to do things that we would rather not
be doing, even though we know they are right scripturally.  Elijah obeyed the
small still voice and Elisha witnessed Elijah being taken into heaven by a
whirlwind.  Anyone, who feels they never receive direction from the Holy
Spirit, might be well advised to reread Part I of this book, to assure
themselves that they are in truth saved.  My intent is not to create fear in
the ranks, but rather exhort those who have difficulty in this area to
seriously review their salvation experience.  I can't visualize any army
operating without excellent communications, especially the Lord's army.
     Please be aware.
