Chapter 9
                                     Ham's Story
                                            II

In the last chapter we saw that Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
As seen in Genesis 6:9 it was Noah alone, who was mentioned as trichotomous:
"These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his
generations, and Noah walked with God.".  We really are not told anything
about the identity of the women on the ark, not Noah's wife nor his son's
wives.  We are told that the sons of God merged with the daughters of men.  If
this was true in Noah's family, as well as other families then the Cainite
line crossed over in the ark.  There is something else that I am sure crossed
over in the ark.  Something not so obvious, but valid and on board, I am sure.
Do you suppose that when Adam and Eve were expelled from the garden they
forced themselves to never talk about the tree of knowledge episode again,
hiding the family skeleton from any further discussion ever.  I don't think
so.  I believe that their family, like every family, would tell and retell the
experience to their little ones at their knees.  I am sure based on the type
of day that they had just experienced, God would be portrayed in differing
roles within the narration.  The story would become a custom and a legend
through the ages.  The primary motivation, more than likely, would be to teach
good safe behavior to their children and descendents.  As their great grand
children retold the story, and each new generation retold the story, it
probably lost some detail but retained at least a general description of the
values to be taught.  After awhile the story might have fallen into disuse, in
storage, in the older folks memories.  But, during a time of stress ( the
flood ), the story would have been remembered, told and retold for
encouragement, and analysis and justification of God's action against the
evils of men.  I am sure there were a lot of why's asked on board the ark.
Thus, the memories from the past, were carried forward.  These memories were
the property of Noah and the others, and as such should have passed from them
to all their descendents who populated the earth.  If this premise is true
then we should be able later to look at writings from dichotomous cultures

with parallel story lines and morals.  In this study we shall only look at the
Greek and Roman philosophers in the later cultures.
We are given the flood account in chapters 7, 8, and 9 where only Noah,
his wife, his three sons, and their wives survived.  The name Japheth is
Yepheth in the Hebrew and Chaldee dictionary and is defined as expansion; a
son of Noah and his posterity.  The Noah genealogy is best put forth in
Genesis 10, "Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and
Japheth, and unto them were sons born after the flood.
The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and
Meshech, and Tiras.  And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and
Togarmah.  And the sons of Javan, Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
By those were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one
after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.
And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.  And the
sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabetcha: and the
sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan.  And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a
mighty one in the earth.  He was a mighty hunter before the Lord: wherefore it
is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord.  And the beginning
of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Acad, and Calneh, in the land of
Shinar.  Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city
Rehoboth, and Calah, And Resen between Nineveh, and Calah: the same is a great
city.  And Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim, and
Pathrusim, and Casluhim, ( out of whom came Philistim, ) and Caphtorim.  And
Canaan begat sidon, his first born, and Heth, and the Jebusite and the
Amorite, and the Girgasite, and the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite,
and the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the
families of the Canaanites spread abroad.  And the border of the Canaanites
was from sidon as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom,
and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.  These are the sons of
üHam, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in
