Rebyll's Confederate Homepage

PLEASE READ

Howdy. I'm rebyll. Welcome to my first attempt at a homepage. Hope ya'll like it. I'll be adding things constantly as I find the time. The bold or yellow text will take you to other pages. I'm a born and bred Southerner from North Carolina. I am also a proud member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Camp 760, the Goldsboro Rifles. My Great Great Grandfathers served in Co.C of the 27th N.C. troops. Private Henry Sutton (maternal grandfather) was killed, and Private Bartholemew Fields (paternal grandfather) lost a leg at the Battle of Sharpsburg ...or Antietam as the Yankees called it.(hahaha) In 1971 my brother and I found a box of letters Grandaddy Henry wrote home during the War. Among them we found one from his Commanding Officer, Col. George Whitfield, informing his wife that Henry was missing in action and presumed dead. A few years ago my brother and I took a trip to Antietam National Battlefield Park and using the information in that letter and with a helpful Park Ranger's assistance with his topographical maps showing hourly troop movements, along with a manuscript by Hardy Z. Bogue "The 27th N.C. at Sharpsburg", we were able to narrow down to within a few hundred yards of where we believe Henry to have fallen during the 27th's heroic charge during the battle. So you can see why this subject is very dear to me. Here you can read transcripts of Henrys letters home to his wife and father and a breif summary of Mr. Bouges manuscript. The letters are all in cronological order and easy to follow along with the events in manuscript.
I have just added a drop down menu that'll take you to some of my other pages for your convenience. In there you will find my Lynyrd Skynyrd page and my Dale Earnhardt page.
So enjoy and feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions, and please remember to sign my guestbook.

Deo Vindice.

Your page on the South and the 27th N.C. looks really nice. A fine effort, especially so since you indicate this is your first try. Your letters from a couple of the soldiers are interesting touches to any WBTS site, and well worth the look.
