EXCLUSIVE. IT'S OFFICIAL: Shane Lynch admits he's quit Boyzone for good and the band are finished...

Shane Lynch has walked out on Boyzone, ending months of speculation about the band's future. His shock news follows a huge bidding war among the major labels for his hip hop band Redhill.

"I've left Boyzone. I've got nothing to do with that project anymore," Shane told us. "Boyzone was a wise business move- a great thing to make money with- but I don't have to do that anymore. I'm only interested in doing what I want to do and that's Redhill. At the end of the day, we're all bosses of what we do so,

regardless of whether the rest of Boyzone are cool about it or not, it's my decision. "I made that decision about six months ago and now it's happened, it's a big relief. At the end of the day I didn't stand at the back of Boyzone for no reason. I stood there because I wasn't interested in pop music, I wasn't interested in singing. I wanted to do hip hop. What I brought to Boyzone was my style and image and now I'm going to be bringing that style and image into the music I want to do."
As revealed in Smash Hits last month, Shane will be working with former Phats & Small vocalist Ben Ofoedu in Redhill and they'll be joined by two other members, Mark Wrightman and Rodney Williams. "We've been working together for four months and, although we looked at a hip hop/rock sound, we're now going to be pure hip hop. It's the right time for us - hip hop is massive!

"Right now, we're shopping for our deal. We've got a CD of six tracks and it's not a case of giving it to labels and seeing what they think- we know it's good, we know we're going to have hits. We're saying, 'When do you wanna sign us and how much do you wanna give us?' It's currently a battle between three major record labels"

Boyzone's Shane returns with "shocking" rap-rock band
Boyzone`s Shane Lynch looks set to shock the world with his new rap-rock group Redhill, according to bandmate Ben Ofoedu. The former Phats & Small vocalist told Smash Hits "Some of the lyrics are very controversial."

Ben added, "You`ll be completely shocked when you hear it, especially Shane`s bits. It`s a rap-rock band and our influences include Cypress Hill and Limp Bizkit. We think the first single should be coming out towards the end of September and I reckon it`s going to be called 'Don`t Rush The Stage.'

"It`s happy and uplifting but I don`t think it`s shiny pop. It`s got a lot of energy in it. "The music`s guitar-based and as soon as we get the cut`s done, you`ll be the first magazine to hear them. "The group`s made up of a mate of mine called Mark Wrightman and a guy called DJ Rods, Rodney Williams. Hopefully, it`s gonna be a complete shock to the world, I really think it will be.

"It`s great because me and Shane go back seven years now. His real love is hip hop, so it`s good that he`s doing something like that now."
