Chapter Six
Power of the Emerald Moon
Thea sat in the library next to her sat a small stack of books, the one she read now was a collection of the summons, putting her reading to a halt, the brunette let her mind drift. She had been at the manor now for a little over two months, and had easily grown to love the place, for once she was secure, with no worries, humans were treating her with kindness. Yet deep inside she still feared how they would react when the residents of the manor found out whom she really was. Some how though, she could not imagine things being any different, the warm and friendly couple Riddel and Dario, Riddel was pretty much her older sister now.. Glenn whom went out of his way to make sure she was happy, the child Marcy whom seemed to accept everything at face value. Norris who didn’t say a whole lot, to anyone for that matter, yet was always friendly towards her, Karsh, even though rough on the outside was quite calm and patient with her.  Lord Viper whom upon himself asked her to stay as long as possible as he felt she added a pleasant atmosphere to the place, the best thing since Dario had returned, he had explained.  Why would they look upon her any different.. Even the being Neofio, whom was far from human, was treated with much respect, Luccia, Grobyc and the other dragoons were also gentle towards her.  She sighed, for she knew exactly why she felt the way she did, content as she was.. She yearned for more, to be loved.. For she had, against her own will, fallen in love with the young dragoon named Glenn. Other than Riddel, he was the only one whom she met with every day, he told her stories about his journey with Serge, growing up in the Dragoons, his childhood, the death of his father and then when his brother ‘died’ but came back to them. Last night however he had come to her room to visit, the conversation some how made it’s way on to when Karsh and Dario had fought over Riddel’s heart. Thea, had let her curiosity get to her, and had blurted out “ So who’s heart have you pursued.”  She had never gotten an answer, Glenn had made up some excuse and left her quarters quickly after. She sighed again, she was supposed to be meeting him now, but she doubted he wanted to see her after her prying last night.. Would she ever truly be happy she thought, as she pushed back her hair from her face and went back to her reading.

Glenn laid upon his bed, wearing a white shirt and caramel coloured pants, he wondered to himself where Thea was. Tonight she was supposed to come to his room to visit, yet it was far past the time she usually showed up. Perhaps his leaving so suddenly last night had given her the wrong impression, but when she’d asked about other women he’d cared for... He could not take such a subject.. “If she wanted me she would not ask questions about other women,” he sighed and closed his eyes. Such feelings were so foreign to him, never before had he yearned for any companionship, yet... now, all he could do was wish for Thea’s touch, to hold her.  Like a magnet she drew him in, natural optimism and cheeriness made her enjoyable to be around, the warmth and care he saw in her eyes, the subtle way she did things, the way she almost floated when she walked.. Yet was still so interesting to him.
That was it, he could take no more waiting, hauling himself off the bed he quickly walked out of his room and knocked on the door next to his. After a few moments of silence, he knocked again, “Thea?” he called.
“Glenn, is that you making all this noise?” asked Riddel as she walked down the hall to see Glenn knocking frantically upon Thea’s door. “Is something wrong,” she asked with a puzzled look upon her face.
“N-no.. M-miss Riddel, I was just wondering where Thea was, she was supposed to meet me tonight, but it is far past the time which she usually visits and-” Glenn spoke quickly, almost slurring his words together but was interrupted by his blue haired sister in law.
“You love her don’t you,” inquired Riddel.
“Wh-why Miss Riddel, I-I merely...” Glenn faded off to the distance, looking away from the woman before him, making sure not to make eye contact as he knew she could look into his heart through his window-like eyes, although was sure she saw him blush.
“Oh do not try to hide it, there is no reason to feel ashamed, you act just like your brother used to around me,” Riddel spoke now in a more soothing tone than she usually did.“Come Glenn, I think I know where she is..”
Glenn lifted his head now to look at Riddel, his eyes beaming with joy.
“Follow me,” and the two started down the hall and towards the upper floor.
“You chose quite the lass to fall in love with Glenn, intelligent, caring, strong, even beautiful.”
Glenn hesitated before he spoke, not used to talking about such issues he was a little uncomfortable, “Y-yes well.. It is not by choice I chose such a woman.. I..  Cannot explain how I feel about her.”
“Of course you cannot, how does one explain love. Although it fills me with joy to finally see your heart open up to someone Glenn, she is exactly what you need, you’re both so very much alike. You know.. Her element colour is green, just as yours, a perfect match!”
“ Just like Dario and yourself, his true element returning after the masamune subsided.. Yes.. But... I do not....” he trailed off, unable to finish his sentence.
Riddel came to a halt at the top of the long set of stairs, “ you do not what Glenn?” questioned the female.
“I-I... do not think... she feels the same about me..” Glenn looked at Riddel, sadness overcame in his eyes, he seemed to almost plea for help.
Riddel looked back at the young man before her, “Perhaps..” She gestured, “perhaps you need to ask her to find the true answer, assumptions are not always correct. Any way, I shall be heading to my room now, it is late, the last I heard Thea was in the library.. You are in charge of your life now Glenn, but as a word of advice, do not let this goddess slip through your grasp.” With that Riddel turned and was on her way up to the top floor.

As Glenn quicky rushed to the midst of large library, running up the small set of stairs, his mauve ribbon flew out behind as he dashed, he came to a sudden halt, almost falling over from the abrupt speed change, his mist coloured eyes looked on. He found whom he’d been searching for, but in a different state than he’d imagined to find her. On the table, a small pile of books where stacked neatly, except for one, which lie open on the large wooden table, acting as a pillow for the fair maiden whom presently was fast asleep. The mouse haired dragoon approached the slumbering woman, “Thea..” he whispered to himself as he viewed her. Dressed in the white night gown she had been given before she sat slumped over upon the table, her head resting against the open book and her left arm, in her lap lay her right. Upon her face a peaceful expression was present, even when asleep she seemed to shine, fair skin smoothed across her body, large gorgeous green eyes were now hidden by lids which held her long sleek eyelashes, full pink lips shaped in that of a smile, even while she slept her optimism shone.
Knowing not what to do, except the fact he could not leave Thea here all night, he bent forward and took the sleeping damsel into his arms, her head lay against his chest now, her body limp,  his arms under her knees and back as he held her tightly to himself. As he stood Glenn looked down at her face, still seeming to be as peaceful as before, she had not woken, a few tendrils of her chestnut locks surrounded her face. Sighing, Glenn started on his way back to her room, questioning himself he wondered if he would ever hold her this close again.. She often hugged him, which he enjoyed, but on that note, she gave Riddel the same treatment, most likely a friendly gestured he concluded, for Riddel and himself were the people Thea seemed closest too and confided in the most, although she was friendly with everyone and had admitted she liked everyone’s company. As Glenn made his way outside, the cold air of the night hit, he being a native to the area took very little notice of the temperature drop and was still preoccupied thinking that he did not notice the woman in his arms had awaken.
As the cold hit her body, Thea came too quickly, opening her eyes for only a moment to see whom was holding her she shut them again hurriedly. Her soul smiled as she realised who it was that cradled her now within his arms ever so gently, letting the notice of the temperature slip her mind and flourish instead with thoughts of being the young dragoons first priority fulfill her. As they entered into the main complex of the Manor, she realized where she’d been and knew now that she must’ve fallen asleep in the library. Yet now it could matter less where she’d been, or where she was going, she was as physically close as she’d ever been to the man she was in love with.. Even though she guessed this gesture was not that of love, but of friendship, and that thought dimmed her mood. As friendly and caring as he was towards her, he had always treated her with kindness, like a close friend... but would she ever be more, could he ever feel the same about her as she felt about him. She felt his grasp upon her tighten as Glenn pulled her closer to him , her head now rest under his chin, and feeling a bit daring Thea wrapped her arms around the Private’s neck to help herself from falling too far back, but also to feel closer to her love. Feeling his body go tense after her sudden movement she began to regret her previous actions, but that worry subsided as he seemed to melt against her again, and her shifted her body so that her head now lie against his cheek rather than under her chin.
Glenn was surprised by the girls movement, though he did not mind her touch in the least, he enjoyed holding her, and the wrapping of her arms so around his neck pleased him as well. He could not tell if she had awoken in the process of doing so, or if her body had merely done so of it’s own will, but he had decided against speaking, for if she was still asleep, he fretted that she may chose walk on her own if awoken.
For the rest of the short walk back to the rooms neither spoke, only wondered to themselves what the other thought, contemplating true feelings and the only movement was that made by Glenn as he walked to their rooms.
Walking softly and slowly down the west wing hall toward their rooms, being careful not to disturb the being which he cradled in his arms, as well to prolong the time in which he could be with his love, he was relieved no one had seen them, because of course they could’ve seen his true feelings for the maiden in his eyes, would’ve read him like a book. Although, he was sure most knew of his feelings, perhaps even Thea herself. Riddel had once told him that he expressed his emotions through his eyes, and even though he’d argued with her over the fact, he still knew she was truthful.
Still cradling the brunette in his arms, the dragoon approached her room, but as he did he remembered the door was locked, recalling from when he begun his search for the woman he  held now. Still not wanting to wake the sleeping woman he instead opened the door to his own room and closed it behind them. Across his quarters to the bed he moved, and as gentle as he could layed the angelic being on the mattress, then lightly removed her arms from around his neck. If she had woken earlier, she had quickly fallen back to sleep he concluded as he gazed down on the innocent figure who looked so peaceful now. Taking a quilt from the base of the bed he covered her body, took one last look at her with watering eyes, sighed, then sat down upon the couch. He yearned now to lay next to her, take her in his arms again, but most importantly explain exactly how he felt, and hopefully in turn find that she felt the same, but decided it could wait until she awoke. He had wanted to tell her such for weeks now, he could certainly wait another night. For now he lay down upon the couch and fell asleep.
