Chapter Ten
If I decide I can’t do it anymore, try to be so hard, I’m trying to be so fucking hard. If I should choose to keep lying to myself, pretend my mind is telling me truths. Well I’ve got my own so who are you? I know, I know. If I should choose to fall apart, don’t you think you should let me? If I should choose to die alone, you should forgive and forget me.” -‘Cocoon’ Joydrop

Karia padded quietly along the path outside. The small hideout the Turks has a acquired was hidden well within a forest, and with such few inhabitants there was little path too follow. Although to her surprise, she quickly found whom she'd been looking for.
Sitting on a tree stump in a small clearing sat a certain redheaded Turk. His nightstick dangling in one hand, a bottle, of what Karia assumed to be beer, in his other. It was an odd sight. Not the fact that he had a beer or his electric nightstick, but the fact he was alone, and being quiet. He didn't seem like the pensive kind. He took no notice of her from where she stood. No one ever did, not even Vincent, the master at moving without a sound. He couldn't even hear her coming. She took the time to observe, with the little light there was. She could see the navy of his Turk uniform, dark and drab, yet worn rather unkempt, which she had to admit, she liked such. The tie absent, jacket just thrown on, shirt unbuttoned and tails hanging out. Then the hair.. a wild mess of red, pulled back into an elastic, and an ever present pair of sunglasses completed the attire. She smirked, she should be one to talk about clothing though, a semi Turk like attire, black instead of blue, a longer jacket, and high boots, not that anyone would notice them though, as her pants covered such. She couldn't blame him for not following the attire requirements, she herself didn't even wear the tie, and rather liked her shirt tails hanging lose. She even had the sunglasses, though they usually hung off her shirt when she wasn't using them. The brunette crept closer, still unnoticed, then stopped again to observe. The red head turned his head a bit, then sighed. Karia took interest in the scar down his cheek, and knew from memory it had a match on the other cheek, something that definitely made her wonder. Yet she had to admit, it added a bit of danger to his less than intimidating size. Though she at 5'5" and barely 125 lbs., wasn't one to talk about size. Looks could be deceiving. Karia smiled, fighting against the will to laugh over her own thoughts.
"Goddamn it all..." Reno muttered, then took another gulp of beer.
Karia looked up surprised, seeing that she still went unnoticed she calmed. Frowning, she took notice of something she never had before.
His eyes had a glow to them, she wasn't surprised, all Turks and SOLDIERS got the treatment, even she had it, well.. not the same as them, but still the same kind of concept. His eyes were different, like they didn't belong. Karia grinned and stood up, here she was half stalking a guy she hardly knew, and making up god knows what kinds of stories.
I've got to be losing it... she thought to herself. Walking up, staying unnoticed she placed a hand on Reno's shoulder, "Hey Turkey, whatcha doing?"
"AHHHH!!" yelled Reno as he jumped up, dropping his bottle of beer, grabbing the wrist of whom touched him and held his nightstick ready.
"Damnit 'Ria..." he sighed when he saw her smirking back at him, obviously not fazed a bit. Letting go of her wrist he grabbed his bottle off the ground. "Do you take pleasure in scaring the hell out of people in the middle of the night?"
"Nah, just you Reno, you're special." laughed Karia as she patted him on the back, "there there.."
"Oh geez, you shouldn't be so kind," Reno replied sarcastically. "So what's up 'Ria? I'm sure you didn't just waltz out her for an adventure... Well actually, maybe you did."
"Kind of, kind of not," Karia replied as she sat down on a tree trunk across from him and pushed back a lock of hair with her hand. "I need to go back to Costa de Sol to get my things, I'm going to bring it here to the 'base', per say. And I need someone to go with me, you're just the lucky candidate for today."
"How honored I am!" he grinned as he put a hand over his chest. "So in other words, no one else would go and I'm the last chance ya got for company?"
"Well I wouldn't put it that way," Karia answered, then thought to herself.
Not the only one who's left... but rather the only one I asked. Sometimes I surprise myself...
Reno snapped his fingers in front of Karia's face, bringing her attention back to him, "'Ria, you ok? Zoned out there.."
"Oh! Yeah, sorry. Any way, you're coming with me," she stated matter of factly as she stood up and brushed her pants off.
"I'm assuming that's an order Miss?" Reno joked as he rose as well.
"You know it, let's go!" she smiled then walked ahead, leading the way. "And I'm driving!"
Reno just shook his head and followed, "yes Ma'am!"
Not exactly like I needed much persuasion to go any way.. As hard as it is for even me to believe.
