Chapter Fifteen
“ I can’t see the thief that lives inside of your head, but I can be some courage at the side of your bed. I don’t know what’s happening and I won’t pretend, but I can be your..” -‘Thief’ Our Lady Peace

Tifa stirred in her sleep and opened her eyes, blinking she then smiled. It wasn't all a dream after all She sighed in relief and leaned back closer against the body behind her. As if such a situation was one that occurred often, an arm snaked it's way around her waist as another pulled a blanket over the top of them.
"I didn't wake you did I?" questioned the brunette as she looked up at the blonde behind her.
"No I've been up for a little while, but I wouldn't have minded if you did," Rufus replied then kissed her.
Tifa smiled and lay back against the body behind her. Seeing the light reflecting off various parts of the room, she assumed it to be mid morning.
I never would've thought getting kidnaped would've worked out so well for me. Then again, I can't say I expected to fall for one Rufus Shinra, or vice versa. Can't complain though. Not to mention that The Wolves haven't even been rough with me or Rufus while we've been here. Room with a window, a sofa and a blanket, they feed us occasionally.... I wonder what the catch is.. Maybe I just worry to much.
"Rufus.." Tifa started, "do you think The Wolves are going to you know.. try to kill us?"
"More than likely.. I highly doubt they captured us intending not to do some kind of harm. They probably want more than just us though, so I'd assume we're the bait.." explained Rufus. Obviously he'd been thinking of such previously and came up with that strategic choice of action.
"How did you come up with that idea?" questioned Tifa as she sat up and looked back at Rufus.
"You tend to come up with such theories when you sit looking out a window for several hours," smirked Rufus as he leaned forward and wrapped his arms around the martial artist. "I would assume they're keeping us here as bait because they think it'll draw in some of the others. Not that they're wrong about that.. they just underestimate our ability. Don't worry though.. I won't let anything happen to you..."
Tifa smiled, she rather liked the feeling of being protected, even though she knew full well that she could take care of herself. "Nothing bad is going to happen to either of us.." stated Tifa as Rufus started to play with her hair.
Wrapping his arms tighter around the brunette in front of him Rufus continued to play with the ends of the long locks. "We'll be free tomorrow, you know.." he trailed off.
"How do you know?" she questioned while she turned the front of her body towards him, then took interest in his black shirt, it was unusual for her to see him without the layers of white he usually wore over the black top.
"I can hear
them talking sometimes.. supposedly a lot of the superiors are leaving tomorrow.." he whispered.
"So that means.."
"Yes.. they'll be taking a lot of the other men with them for body guards and such.."
"A perfect opportunity.."
"For the Turks to come and get us. Which of course, they will.." Rufus trailed off emotionlessly.
"True, Vincent and Karia included I would assume. But.. you almost sound as though you're sad about the fact.. I'm sure nothing will happen to them Rufus, they can easily preform this mission, even if it's by choice and not order,"  Tifa expressed then leaned up to kiss Rufus who received without any hesitation.
"I know they'll be fine.. It's just.." Rufus said as he looked over to the window and saw Riane sleeping.
"Just what?" questioned a confused Tifa.
"I don't want this to end, us.." confided Rufus as he looked back to the martial artist, " it's not exactly something you'd expect to hear from me I'm sure, but I mean.."
I mean that I can't handle to let anyone go, I never could, ever since mom died.. mom.. killed herself, I haven't been able to grow towards anyone. I hated my bastard father for what he did to her, he killed her... The Turks were the only people I trusted, and even in the end of the meteor incident I let them fall away from me.. Weapon's blast was a much needed wake up call, my second chance at life. I regained my ties with my Turks.. my friends.. and now I've been through into this seemingly love story.. per say.. and I just can't let go.. It's odd, I usually don't get this attached to people but.. Hell I can't expect anyone else to understand what I'm talking about, even I can't understand...
"I know what you mean," smiled Tifa as she brought Rufus out of his seemingly distant moment, who in turn she coxed a smile out of, "it's about time I switch places to live any way. As for Vincent, I'm sure he would love to come with me, Turks belong with Turks right?"
"Ms. Lockheart, I do believe you are correct, " he grinned then shifted the brunette to lay against him easier. "We should get some more sleep though, I'm sure we only got four or five hours last night tops, we want to be in good health tomorrow to aid the Turks with out escape," he whispered while leaning forward to claim Tifa's lips in an embrace.
Absent mindedly Tifa reached back and pulled the blanket over the two of them as they sunk into the sofa lavishing each other with affections.
