Judging and Prizes

Finalists will be notified by the end of July 2006 or at the annual meeting held at the National RWA Conference.  The winner and runners-up will be announced by September 8, 2006.

Each entry will be read and scored by two judges.  Contest Judges will be drawn from Scriptscene, RWA and the screenwriting community.  Judges will be experienced script critiquers.  Every effort will be made to have first round judges whom have finaled in or won a major screenwriting competition, completed a script analysis course or had their script optioned, sold or produced.

The two total scores will be averaged to determine the finalists.   An average minimum score of 80 must be achieved to be considered a finalist.   The top five scoring entries, with an average minimum score of 80, will be considered finalists and submitted to the Final Round Judge.   (It is possible that there will be fewer than five finalists.)

A third judge will be used for any entry whose two scores differ by at least 20 points when one of those scores is at least 85%.   The two closest scores will be averaged to determine finalists.

Scriptscene RWA reserves the right to replace any judge if s/he is unable to complete his/her duties.

The Final Round Judge will determine the winner and the second and third place runners up.

A cash prize of $100.00 will be awarded to the winner and $25.00 to each runners up.

Certificates will be awarded to the first through fifth place entries.

The winner and two runners-up names and their script titles will be announced in the Romance Writer's Report (RWR), Scriptscene's web site, and a screenwriting industry publication.

 Judges are industry professionals.
