Mission of Love II May 21 - 25 |
MI, Inc. President, Dr. Rodolfo Jao with missioners before boarding the PAF plane at Villamor Airbase, Pasay, MM. |
Members of the Marinduque Interna-tional, Inc. from all over the United States and Canada joined the 2nd "Mission of Love" to Marinduque with one common objective: to help those who are in need particularly with their medical problems. Together we succeeded. Patients came in great numbers, determined to see a doctor for their sickness. Their expectations were high and dared the sweltering heat and high humidity while mothers carried their infants in their tired arms - some were crying, others fell asleep waiting for their turn to be called for a medical check-up. More than one hundred M.I., Inc. misioners and volunteer friends |
have joined the mission - some can trace their roots in Marinduque, as in the case of Dr. Homer Bunag, an ENT specialist from Pitogo, Quezon, now residing in Indian, USA, have some relatives in Buliasnin in Boac. Prof. Thach Nguyen, a Cardiologist, is a friend of Dr. Rudy Jao who is sympathetic to our great cause. Lee Brent and Elie Baldovino, both nurses, are close friends of Mr. & Mrs. Bernie Jamilla, owner of "Tahanan sa Isok" hotel. Missioners and volunteers from the US and Canada stayed with their relatives, others stayed in private cottages, some availed the facilities in Lupac (Boac) beach courtesy of |
Governor Carmencita O. Reyes. Clinics setup at "covered court" in Boac, Mogpog, Gasan and Torrijos were full packed over the course of the day, while Sta. Cruz conducted their clinics in the district hospital. Friday was the last day of mission and was held in Buenavista at the municipal compound. About 500 people came and filled up the whole area until 5pm. Most surgeries were done at the Marinduque Provincial Hopital (MPH) as it is more equipped with surgical equipment and instruments than the district hospitals in Torrijos and Sta. Cruz. /by Rey Muhi |
