cont'd. on page 18
     d)  Homer Bunag - He was appreciative and made good comments about the cooperation of all the mis-
sioners and the hospitality extended to the group in the Lupac Beach Resort of the Governor.
He mentioned that his main problem was the electricity which hindered his ENT examination
                        of patients in the hospital.
        e)  Virgie Madla - She enjoyed the work and was satisfied with the teamwork, despite the heat and volume
of patients. She was emphatic in saying that the abundance of food and people  helping each
other made the missionvery memorable. She requested a breakdown of asthma cases they saw
during the mission so that she could submit this information to the Academy of Asthma. She
stated that she is willing to participate in future missions.
        f)  Evelyn Santos - She was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness of the surgical suites and the friendly
atmosphere in the O.R.  Since this was her first time to join a medical mission, she initially
thought that she would be giving anesthesia under coconut trees!  She gave anesthesia to about
19 patients a day. She also enjoyed teaching the O.R. staff about the techniques on administering
the new anesthetic medicines she brought from the United States. She ended her comments with,
"I'm willing to do another mission as long as it is in Marinduque". It was her birthday and the
group sang "Happy Birthday" as a cake was  brought out by Aida Mariposque - "Mayor Domo"
of the White House. It was learned that May 26th is also Edgar Alandy's birthday. Thus,
everyone joined in for another birthday song. This added to the excitement of the moment.
        g)  Edgar Alandy - As team leader of the Sta. Cruz/Torrijos group, he reported on the performance of the
missioners in the two towns. He thanked Paz Sulit and Dr. Atenza and his group for staying late
in Sta. Cruz in order to finish all the cases. They saw 221 ophthalmology patients and 99 dental
cases. Rafael Mondonedo, President of MANC, was unable to attend and give his report of the
mission in Torrijos. A report will be submitted later.
        h)  Rey Muhi & Willie Due (Public Relations/Videos/Still pictures) - They are going to compile pictorials of
the mission and edit the videos that will be sold and distributed in the Grand Reunion in Toronto,
Canada. Rey Muhi was instructed by Rudy Jao to print another newsletter and coordinate with
Ned Sto. Domingo, President of MCSC, to include highlights and pictorials of the medical mis-
                      sion in the souvenir program.
        i)  Marita Jao-Stuppy - She provided the group with the preliminary tabulation of patients seen (over 2000).
Breakdown of exact number of cases (e.g. medical, dental, surgical) will be submitted later once
the reports from the six towns are submitted.
        j)  Crowd Control Group composed of Pete Nepomuceno, Steve Sosa, and Ben Magahis gave anecdotal
reports on the problems encountered in the handling of the crowds of people seeking
treatment. They were very impressed by the great job done by the young missioners, headed by
Bobby Manalo, Mylene Jao, Rodell Jao and Maricon Mariposque, and their local counterparts.
They commented that the two-way radios were very helpful for communication between the
                       missioners.
        k)  Susie Due - "Great experience!  I enjoyed the mission very much and I am inviting everyone to the
August meeting in Canada".  She requested for more ads and to send them ASAP.
9)    Rudy Jao thanked all the missioners for their unselfish dedication and active participation. He especially
thanked Celso Mataac for making a special effort to attend the meeting. Both of them will be meeting with
the Principal of the Marinduque National High School with regards to the donation that the MI, Inc. will give
for the renovation of the High School Library.
10)  It was agreed that a certifcate of appreciation be given to every missioner. A complete listing of the partici-
pants are needed, both of those from the States as well as the local volunteers from the various towns.
Ching Jao-Manalo and Rudy Rubio (PRO) are being requested to help in this project.
11)  Rudy Jao expressed gratitude to his sister, Aida, for preparing a delicious brunch.
12)  Next meeting: August 11, 2001, Toronto, Canada.  Meeting adjourned at 11:30 am.
