DADDY and DAUGHTER
A Letter To My Daughter
September  25, 2005

I was watching Television earlier this evening, about a young girl and her mother
   surviving on their own.
I began to think about my young daughter, so I decided to sit down and write her a
   letter:
  My Dearest Darling,

I am not sure, if you will get this letter.
I got the address from your grandparents
They was a surprise sound in their voice, when I asked for it.
Guess they wondered, why I waited all this time to write you.
This is the last address they had, as to your where about.

I don’t even know, if you will open this letter or not.
But, if you do, I hope this finds you and your mother doing ok.
I am so sorry for not telling you goodbye, those years ago.
Your mother and I fought all the time, and I did not want our home to be like that.
   So, I just left.
There is not a minute of the day that goes bye, that I do not think about you.
I always wondered what kind of boy, would be your Prince Charming.
But, I am sure he would be a good boy.
I always tried to raise you right, while I was there.

I hope you have been doing well in school.
Education, is the most important thing in a young person’s life.
Don’t be like me, and just live from day to day.
Always, do your best, and you will come out on top of the world.
I did not get your mother things that she asked for, I spent my money for beer.
Not even caring, if we had groceries or not.
The years have gone bye so quick, I can’t even remember how old you would be now.
Not even sure, how old your mother is.
I just know that I feel so old, and alone.
I visualize, how a beautiful young girl, you must be now
I just wished I had been there, for your 13th Birthday.
   A Teenager.
I wished I had been there for your first day of school.
Heck, I wished I had been there for your Prom night too.
   Cinderella, you must have been.
Wished I had been there to teach you some dances, but your Mom was a very good
   dancer.
So, you did not really need my help with that.
