Drowning My Sorrows Robert H. Gilbert, Jr. October 15, 2003 |
Today my world just ended, as she turned and walked away All because of three little words, I didn’t know how to say So, tonight I’ll drown my sorrows in my Johnny Walker Red And when I wake up in the morning, I’ll remember what she said. She said, “ I hope that you’ll be happy in the world you live alone I want someone to love me, so I can have a home So, go and drown your sorrows in your Malibu Rum Cause when this country girl starts walking This country girl is done Some 20 years later we met again by chance I heard that she was happy, but I saw the tear stained face We sat down at a table in a bar just down the street And when she started talking, she then began to weep. She said, “ I’m sorry that I left you so many years ago But, I wanted someone to love me so I could have a home But, now my love has left me in a world all alone I know that you still love me, and I still love you so Then I said, “ Go and drown you sorrows in your Miller highlight beer Cause when this country boy starts walking This man is out of here Cause when this country boy starts walking This man is out of here |
