There were school holidays in April and we headed north for a few days, first to Roxby Downs to check up on some properties up there, then on the way back south we spent a few nights at Wilmington in the Flinders Ranges, did a walk in the stunning Alligator Gorge, and I attended the Anzac Day Dawn Service with the local farmers - as usual a very moving experience. By coincidence our friends the Krahenbuehls turned up at Wilmington at the same time as us and we enjoyed spending some time with them too. |

After a steep walk down hundreds of rock steps down to the floor of the gorge, we headed upstream first, to an area called The Terraces, which was once an old lakebed (see the ripple marks in the rock - they were caused by sand on the lake bottom), and had a drink stop. |

A view up the terraces. We walked up here, and although there had been no rain for months and things were very dry, we found a few rock pools with water in them still, where the animals come to drink at dawn and dusk. |
