Michael leaves this weekend for 2 weeks to the Philippines this weekend. When he comes we will have a "farm" of field targets. It's all about the sear. We will research the sport of field target shootingwhile he's gone. I wonder how many times Pellet J. Squirrell has been knocked down?

We sent in our money order and registration to join AAFTA (American Airgun Field Target Association). As of today we have two fully functional field targets. We should have 15-20 wood targets by the end of the month.

We have just inaugurated our first 2 club-built field targets with 1" kill zones - Thumper the Rabbit and Pellet J. Squirrell! Lanny was supervising and Michael was putting his gunsmith skills to work. Our second project (Pellet J. Squirrell) has a perfect sear. I am perfecting the sear on Thumper Rabbit today (Our first project - Michael engineered a better design for the sear). I'm sure Lanny and Michael are helping Pellet J. Squirrell live up (or down, so to speak) to his reputation!

Sawing, cutting, painting, drilling, screwing (making our first field targets). I'm heading over to the clubhouse for some professional help from Lanny and Michael to finish the sear. Field targets are a whole new can of worms. I haven't finished the first one and I'm already addicted!

Received an E-Mail from Dave Baker in Southwest Ohio (Can-Manglers of Ohio). These gentlemen share the same comraderie that we enjoy (God, family, friends, fun). I added 3 links so we can check out this club. They are very innovative and diverse. Field targets, cans, CD's, paper targets, an "Outhouse" (No poop!) target for a Cowboy Shoot, and some tips on shooting spring-piston airguns. Some of their scopes are larger than our pistols! Sonny, Mey and Joe (Bobot) are going to stop by Michael's and Perlita's tomorrow for a shootout. I'll update you on the outcome.

Michael's sinuses are affecting his eyes and he has layed off for a few days to recuperate before visiting the Philippines. The boys stopped by the clubhouse for a few. I'm still trying to contact Can-Manglers of Ohio. Testing out some new targets on the office trap. There's a couple of 7-Up cans that are begging for a plinking. I'll oblige that request when I'm off on Monday. I understand Thom's (Can-Manglers of Ohio) obsession for can-mangling. It's cheap, recyclable, and does not harm living organisms of any type (and they look cool when they are tumbling!)

Did some plinking at some Able targets purchased at Wal-Mart. The bullseye on the Able target is larger than the 4 ring on the targets we shoot at the clubhouse. Researching more on our sport I ran across Can Manglers of Ohio. I lived in Middletown in the late 50's and early 60's. My brother Woody and myself may very well have gone to school with these guys. The Middletown Sportsmen Club looks very much like Camp Hook Boy Scout Camp. I'm still trying to find a good E-Mail address for this club. Maybe they can update me on some old friends and landmarks.

Capped the baker target at 60'. The "X" ring on the baker is so much larger than the 1/2" to 1" bullseyes we use in the club that it was
IMPOSSIBLE for me to miss! Stopped by the club. Lanny and Michael had been shooting earlier in the day. The cardboard target backs in the traps were virtually non-existant. I brought several backs and target faces for replacements. Joe "Bobot" stopped by earlier in the day (just had his ticker operated on by the Roto Roter {Ouch!}. Michael said Joe is looking Great! Blasted a good hundred pellets into the office trap. Michael and Perlita are headed to the Philippines on the 18th of this month for 2 weeks.

Busy day at work. Capped about 30 at the office trap. Did some major research on airguns on the web. This sport is growing at an astronomical rate!

Michael was out of town on Sunday, but made up for lost shooting time today. Annabelle challenged me to a WWA (World Wide Airgun) Smack Down Wednesday on the Baker target range. Lonny (from my work) picked up a Gamo sillouette trap from the Sports Authority. You shoot the outer 4 sillouettes and the center sillouette to reset the targets. Blasted some more soda cans to shreds in the morning.

Ran into a couple of airgunners at the Sycamore Wal-Mart in Vista. One gentleman was looking to replace what sounded like a Chinese Sporter that had recently broken. Another gentleman was looking to get back into the sport of airgunning (he also drives an F-150). I gave both of them our website address and invited them to check out the many links that are full of information to help them make a smart choice for purchase (we've made all the mistakes for them!). Spent a little time zeroing the scope on the the Daisy Powerline 856 pump-up rifle. Drove a couple of green sinkers into some 4x4 posts. Will update the news tomorrow after I chat with Michael.

Bought some Baker targets at Turners in San Marcos. Annabelle has something in mind for these next week. Built a target holder (4' x 2') that is stable in the wind and holds these well (it also breaks down easily and is portable). My yard's only an acre. There is no possible place to put this target where you cannot hit the black with ANY decent quality airgun. Maybe this is the experimental stage of building a Combat town. Michael was busy shooting while Lanny was making the big bucks (he needs to buy more shooting gear). Check out some of the new links on the home page.

Got an update from Michael. Joey stopped by Michael's yesterday as Michael was capping away at 40'. Joey had given his son a 1377 years ago and when his son found ou that dad was going to get an airgun, he said "Dad, I already got another gun" and gave his dad Joey back a "Classic" 1377. This gun is like new but has an older loading and pumping system. It is still dead on accurate. Michael has already gone through a couple rounds. Lanny is busy and has not had time to shoot (he better be making money if that's the case).

Happy New Year! Started early shooting in the back yard. Got up to 60' shooting at a 2 1/2" Bullseye. The 717 pulled through with shining colors. I was aiming center mast at the trap to make this work. Then came the cans, oh yes remember plinking cans? When plinking cans with a match grade pistol you emaciate the can so bad that you just start aiming at the small remaining pieces of metal holding the can together. I shot 3 7-Up cans down to slivers!

New Years Eve! Michael and Lanny were shooting all day. Went to Joe's (Bobot) for his birthday and New Years Eve bash. Great turnout and we recruited several new members who will stop by "the range" after the New Year. We gave Joe a pump-up pneumatic Crosman 760 with fiber optic sights. That should help him get into the black. Stay off the roads as much as possible and drive safe and defensibly if you have to. We need to have you all come back so we can kick your a$$ on the range! There have been requests from people I know who would like to see an airgun combat town. That would require land, CO2 pistols (repeaters), and safety guidelines. Think of some ideas. I'm sure law enforcement agencies would also be interested in this also.

Annabelle's and Michael's 717's arrived. Annabelle's building a special target course for hers. Michael was cleaning his Crosman and immediately started firing .2" groups at 25'. Lanny could not hit the black (unfortunately for the rest of us the bullseye was white). Joe (Bobot) stopped by and capped a few. Joe (the landlord) also stopped by for a few heats. Frank capped a few and was immediately bitten by the airgun virus. Everybody was having AIRGASMS!

Lanny's back and won't stop shooting. Michael and Annabelle's 717's are scheduled for tomorrow. Michael will probably loose sleep waiting for his 717.

Lanny should be back in force soon. His tour of duty in Oxnard is ending soon. We'll welcome him back to the firing line and he better have been shooting during his leave of absense or he'll be way behind the rest of the club! Lonny (at my work) bought a Winchester 1000 air rifle. Extremely accurate and POWERFULL out of the box. It hits like a .22LR. I'll update this page as soon as I hear from Michael.  Sonny, Tets, and Richard were shooting caps at Michael's and Perlita's Sunday.

Joe (Bobot) was moving closer to the black. His old Navy and Marine buddies would be surprised to see him hitting the black. Michael was making up for lost shooting time from Christmas. Ric was capping the office trap between E-Mails.

MERRY CHRISTMAS! Everyone in the house got (surprise!) an air pistol for Christmas. Mary Grace and Josh started immediately. I have not done a damage assesment yet to see what
wasn't shot! Still waiting for Michael's and Annabelle's 717's.
We went through over 1000 rounds.

'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house all creatures were shooting, even the mouse... The kids are coming over tomorrow. We'll all be shooting. Merry Christmas to all from Forex Airgun Club of Target Shooters. The clubhouse will be closed for Christmas day, but I can guarantee that all members will be shooting and honing their skills. There is less than a week before the arrival of Annabelle's and Michael's Daisy 717's. Stay safe and do as little driving as possible for the holidays.
