The human face is by far my favourite subject to draw.  Not only for the challenge of capturing a likeness but also for the humour and drama to be found with the right expression in the right situation.  The first time I saw this face, I knew I had to draw it.  There's so much character and strength in it.  When I look at photographs of people, I wonder what the person was thinking about in that moment. For this drawing, I didn't take the reference photo myself but I was told that it was taken during an eclipse.  Now, when I look at photographs, not only do I want to know "What was he thinking?" but also "What was he doing?" or better yet, "What was he seeing?!?"
