Homemade Set for Magic: the Gathering

Welcome to the Cataclysm set home page! Cataclysm is the third and last set in the Palouranos Block, featuring 165 all-new cards.

As the final chapter of the Palouranos block unfolds, you'll be able to play with cards bearing not only block staples Infuse, Amity and Militance, but also with brand new possibilities, such as "gradual" Infuse cards, "Infuse-trips", the Oneirons (creatures that get better while they're "dreaming") and the new keyworded mechanic Mystify.

Cataclysm has been designed for playing with Magic Workstation (download the master grid file on the bottom of this page). Please give it a try. If you want someone to play against, drop me a line at ricklongo at gmail dot com.

New Mechanics

Mystify N (At any time you could play this card, if there are N or more mana of its colors in your mana pool, you may play it without paying its mana cost.)
- Mystify appears on all types of colored cards.
- The mystify ability can only be played if you have the required amount of mana in your mana pool, and if at least the required amount of mana matches the card's color or colors.
- If the mystify ability causes you to play the card without paying its mana cost, the mana in your mana pool remains there, which means you can use it to play other spells or abilities or pay of other costs. If at the end of the phase the mana is still in your mana pool, it will cause mana burn as normal.

Rules Clarification

The card Senator Kreon of Myrmidafos reads "Protection from cards your opponents control". For the purpose of the set, this means it has protection from anything controlled by an opponent that is a physical card - from spells on the stack, to creatures in play, to cards in his or her hand or his or her graveyard, etc. Note that this ability does not protect Kreon from permanents and spells that aren't physical cards - creature tokens, spell copies made by effects like Isochron Scepter's, etc.
