| Plantation Houses of La.87 |
| After leaving Olivier, the road stretches out and eventually the bayou grows closer. With the bayou comes the trees. The setting is perfect for what is to come. These two magnificent homes are within a quarter mile of each other. Alice is a Bed and Breakfast. Bayside is a working farm. Bayside is in one of the most beautiful settings I have seen. It sits far back off the road surrounded by the trees' dark shadows. Alice is very old. It is built in the "West Indian" design. Bayside is a "Greek Revival". There are a few more I want to post here. They are private working homes and must be approached carefully. These were shot from the road. Each affording a place to park and time to choose your shot. |

| I think the house above is new. It had no historical marker. The rooms to either side are add-ons, if it is old. If it is new, give the builder credit for staying true to the local grand architecture. The house is found on the road that joins 87 to Irish Bend Road. |
