"Pony Program" Lesson Information

I have received numerous requests to teach very young children so I decided to add a new lesson package aimed at the youngest beginners, ages four to six.  Riders must wear long pants, sturdy shoes with a heel, and a safety approved helmet.  A helmet can be provided for the first few lessons if necessary.

Lessons are thirty minutes long which does include getting the pony ready (tacking up) and putting him away.  The amount of time spent in the saddle ends up being fifteen to twenty minutes which is a perfect match for the students' typically short attention spans. Riders learn basic pony care, the names of the parts of the pony, the names of the parts of the tack (riding equipment), and how to safely interact with the pony.  While mounted they learn balancing skills and basic riding.  Lessons begin on the lead line so the rider does not have to worry about steering and will progress toward a goal of independent riding.
