Scrunchy and Dishcloth Patterns

This Page Will Soon Be Under Construction
With Pictures and Links

This page has my free crochet patterns. They are all original designs by me: please observe all copyright laws. Do not post to other web sites.... it's called stealing! :o) :o) But you may print them out for your own use.

This page is meant for beginers, but experienced crocheters are welcome, too. I want to write the patterns out in such a way that anyone who is learning can easily understand the instructions and carry them out. If you have any questions, you can contact me at here.

Ambar's Simply Scrunchy #1

Round 1 -Using a plain elastic ponytail holder, attach yarn to the holder with a knot. Start to make single crochet stiches into the ring, as many as it will hold. (I bunch them up as much as I can, so that it will be fluffier) Join with a slip stitch to beginning single crochet.

Round 2 -Chain 3 in the same stitch, 4 double crochet in the same stitch, * 5 double crochet in next single crochet*. Repeat from * to * until the end, join with a slip st at the top of beginning double crochet. [NOTE: Your beginning double crochet is always the Chain 3 unless otherwise specified in the pattern]

Ambar's Simply Scrunchy #2
Using worsted weight yarn (or any other, but it takes longer), attach yarn to a plain ponytail holder with a knot.
[Work your single crochets over the end of the yarn you just attached. That way you won't have to weave it in later.]
Round 1 Work the following: (Single crochet into ring, chain 3 all around). Bunch them up as much as you can, so it's scrunchier. Join with a slip stitch in beginning of 1st single crochet.
(b>Round 2 2 slip stitches into the chain 3 from Round 1, chain 1, single crochet, chain 3; (single crochet into next chain 3, then chain 3) all around, join with a slip st in 1st single crochet of this same round. Weave in ends.
Round 3 (optional)- chain 3 or 4 as needed, slip stitch in chain space, *chain 3, slip stitch into next single crochet, chain 3, slip stitch into chain space*. Repeat between * and finish by weaving in ends.
---To make it look like a delicate carnation, start Round 1 with white pompadour, then change to pink (or pastel colour of your choice) in Round 3.

About the scrunchy, you can change colors with the S.Scrunchy #2 at Round 2. I've sold many scrunchies, and the most popular ones here are the ones made with pompadour yarn. It takes longer, but is so lovely! Little girls who take ballet lessons really like those. Also, scrunchies made with multicolored yarn, like blues (go well with jeans).

I've even made scrunchies with leather. It's harder, but worth it. Just do only one round of single crochets. You can add gold colored beads to it too, to make it more interesting. You might have to use your fingers to pull the leather out of the stitch....I made 2 to sell, and instead, kept them for myself!

Ambar's Simply Scrunchy #3
Round 1- Attach worsted weight yarn on a plain ponytail holder with a knot, single crochet, ch 2 all around, squeezing the sc together so you can fit some more. Join with a slip stitch at begining single crochet.
Round 2- Chain 3, double crochet, chain 1, 2 double crochet in same stitch, work (2 double crochet, chain 1, 2double crochet) in each single crochet around. Slip stitch to top of chain 3 of begining chain. Finish off and weave in ends.

Scrunchie Idea: Try crocheting a little creature, such as a bear, or a heart, and attach to a scrunchy you've made with only one round of single crochets. I bet you could sell it for at least $ 4.00. Or, tack on (sew) baby chicks, bunnies, butterflies, pretty bow, even a clown face!

Shells and Columns Dishcloth

Materials: Bernat Cot'n Soft 100 percent cotton yarn. It's worsted weight cotton yarn, and any brand will do. One size E or F crochet hook, or any other hook you feel comfortable with.
For dishcloths, you want it to be a firm, tight, yet not overly tight gauge (tension), since when they become wet, they stretch.

Note: Shell= 2 double crochet, chain 1, 2 more double crochet, all in the same stitch.

Round 1 Ch 42. Double crochet in 4th chain from hook, and in each chain until you reach the end. Make each one the same length.

Round 2 Ch 3 (counts as a double crochet, now and thoughout), turn. Double crochet in next 7 double crochet, skip 2 stitches, make a shell, then work (skip 2 stitches, 1 double crochet in the next 2 double crochet, skip next 2 stitches, shell in next stitch)3 times. Double crochet in the last 7 stitches.

Round 3 Chain 3, double crochet in the next 6 stitches, work (chain 2, single crochet in the chain 1 space of your shell, chain 2, double crochet in each of the next 2 double crochet) 4 times, finish row by adding a double crochet in each of the last 5 dc.

Rounds 4-18 Repeat Rounds 2 and 3, ending with Round 3.

Round 19Chain 3, turn, double crochet in each of the stitches. (40 dc)

Edging Chain 1,single crochet in the corner, and down the length of your dishcloth. When you reach the next corner, make 3 single crochet, then single crochet in each of your begining chains. 3 single crochet in the corner, single crochet evenly along the other length, 3 single crochet in next corner and in each double crochet, end by making 2sc in last stitch, so you can have 3 single crochet in the corner double crochet you ended round 19 with. Make a slip stitch on top of your beginning single crochet.
Finish by fastening off and weaving in the ends with a yarn needle.
