1.  No bareback riding.

2.  No riding double.

3.   All persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult of at least 21 years of age to ride ANYWHERE on Sykes' Texas Longhorn Ranch.

4. All persons riding horses will be responsible for a cool down period for all animals that are sweating over more than 30% of their body.  This means one that is sweating at the neck and saddle area.

5.  All persons riding horses at the Cowboy Camp will be responsible for proper storage of ALL tack and equipment.  Improper care of tack and equipment will result in a "NO RIDE DAY."   This means the day of, or the day following the infraction, the camper will not be allowed to ride the entire day.

6. Never walk behind a horse until after you have learned the correct method for doing so and then only when a Camp Counselor is present.

7. Be respectful and courteous to everyone including the horses.

8. We respect adults at the Cowboy Camp by saying "Sir" and "Ma'am".   If you forget, you will be reminded.  (There is no disciplinary action for forgetting to say "Sir" or  "Ma'am").

9.  No running around the barn or the horses.

10.  Treat your horse like your best friend. Don't slap, hit or kick him/her.  You may pet, hug, and show your adopted horse love and affection.

11. Any student  found mistreating or not caring for their horse as instructed will be disciplined with a  "NO RIDE DAY".  This means  the day of, or the day following the infraction, the student will not be allowed to ride the entire day.
12.  All students must have strict permission prior to entering the office area.

13. The telephone is off limits except in case of emergency

During camp, if any barn rule or camp rule is broken the first time, the student will have a 30 minute time out to think about the rule and then will have to orally give a good reason why that rule is important to follow.  At that time the student may rejoin the group.  In the event this same rule is broken a second time, the student will have a one  hour time out.  The student will then be asked to write the camp rules and give an oral presentation on the importance of following these rules and the consequences of breaking them.  If the student breaks the same rule a third time, he/she will be removed from the group and no longer be allowed to participate in camp for the duration of the week.  The child's guardian will be contacted to pickup the child.  A student may have disciplinary action for up to five (5) different infractions of the rules before this later course of action is taken where they must leave camp.  If this occurs, there will be no refund of the camp deposits or fees.  The child who is expelled will not be allowed to return to Cowboy Camp until the following year.
