Turns out the water supply for the Mayans was hidden in these sink holes 90 feet below the surface. Many were marked by the presents of the sacred LaCeiba tree who's roots were capable of punching down through the limestone into the water. Lots of human bones and material sacrafices have been found at the bottom of these enchanted places. There are hundreds of them scattered thruought Mexico. |
