My Dearest Heath... I'm not even sure where to start because there's so much to say. Well, camp is a good place to start... I remember the first summer I met Heather. I didn't have her as a camper, but it was impossible to miss her presence at camp. She was loud, and energetic, and more athletic than most of the guy campers and staff. She had this smile that was amazingly huge and you could always tell how much she loved being at camp, surrounded by fellow believers, worshipping God. To see her smile...it makes other people around her smile. The last night of that week, I remember seeing Heather wearing Derek's hat and crying...and I think I even have pictures of it somewhere, but it made it real to me, just how much camp meant to everyone. Well, Heather came back on staff...and it was a total blast!! Her first summer she went to Creation and brought me back a Jars of Clay poster that I still have and hang on my wall. Whenever I see that poster, I think of my dear friend, Heather. Summer 2003 was so much fun, especially because I was able to spend so much time with Heather. We had a chance to live together a few weeks...and even when we weren't living together, we would still hang out, doing lots of different stuff... I remember the night a bunch of us went down to Chris's house and the guys went up and banged on the windows and freaked out everyone inside...while we're standing out in the yard behind a tree with April who's making her wookie sound. Craziness!! I also remember the week that Amy and Heather and I lived together. Oh my...that was crazy...but so much fun! The pitstains...our special greeting (haha)...the night that Amy got lost with other staff girls and didn't come home for hours...but mostly, I remember our boy talk nights. I loved going to see Heather, jumping in her bed, eating Doritos and drinking Code Red Mountain Dew and talking about the men in our lives. The good, the stupid, whatever..."we're in LOVE!!" Heather was one of the first people I told when Michael told me he loved me. I will always hold Heather in a special place in my heart. She has always been a good friend...and a great example of Christ's love. We should all strive to have that dedication and love for Christ. Thank you Heath!! I love you!! |
