| Rostrum Magazine is a first and foremost a forum for students to engage with the regional and international community. Through this engagement, we hope to create a more extroverted student population. The publication covers news, arts and satire, focusing entirely on issues outside of campus. Since its inception in January 2008, the publication has grown from two editors to thirty writers and four permanent editors. One of the unique aspects of this publication is that it is committed to voicing unheard opinions and stories. This is reflected throughout the magazine. For example, the content of the Rostrum covers independent music and under reported international issues from a youth perspective. Furthermore, the Rostrum’s advertising package focuses on independent stores, environmentally friendly organizations, and other socially conscious groups throughout Ottawa. Advertising is also geared towards student needs such as student housing, supplies, job postings, etc. |

Who Will Benefit From the Rostrum? |

| The Rostrum, with both web and print sources, will directly benefit a large portion of Carleton University’s student population. We are doing this by: | ||||||||||||||||||

| Currently, Carleton has 2400 incoming Bachelor of Arts students. As an organization run primarily by first year students on the executive team, we have engaged the politically and socially inclined Carleton community. However, our readership will span both the undergraduate and graduate programs at the university, with some master’s students acting as sources for articles. | ||||||||||||||||||
| Number of print issues for our first copy: 500 were printed on March 14, 2008. | ||||||||||||||||||
