Everyone has interests, and they are usually the coolest thing(s) you can find out about a person. Anyway, here are mine:

Bowling | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Yes, I am one of those goofy people who likes to bowl. I have enjoyed bowling since I was about nine years old. I've not been a steady bowler, but I really enjoy the strategy and learning part of it. I am not one of those bowlers who can make their ball curve; I was never able to do that, so I throw straight, which is probably why I still have trouble remaining consistent, and why I still change position about five times per game. My average is about 149-154, and my highest score ever was 221; I don't know how that happened. I also highly recommend that anybody who has the opportunity to experience "Cosmic Bowling", do so. We just got it here, and I love it. |

Bullwhip | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ever since I watched "Zorro's Black Whip" on Family Film Festival when I was 8 years old, I've been hooked on the awesome physics, beauty and dynamics of the bullwhip, an almost ancient tool that was the first man-made object to break the sound barrier. I love circular motion and the physics of how the bullwhip operates is a gorgeous experience of that. I got my own bullwhip later on, for a junior high graduation present, but it didn't last long because a friend tried to play Indiana Jones with it (swinging from a tree branch) and broke it. Before that occured, I practiced every day with it, but never could figure out how to use it without giving myself welts and slight cuts. Obviously I was (am) a big fan of Indiana Jones and Catwoman. In 1998, I finally got another bullwhip, a very well made kangaroo hide one, made in Australia. The same year I discovered an amazing individual, Anthony De Longis, a swordmaster, whipmaster, stuntman, actor, choereographer, actor and the list goes on. Anyway I sent for his instructional videotape Mastering the Bullwhip Vol. 1 and was blown away at how he taught to use the bullwhip in such a simple way that makes so much sense, and is actually safe. Later on, in 2001, I got to have an actual lesson with him. Anyway, I now have knowledge, understanding, and union with the bullwhip. People tell me I seem rather obsessed with the bullwhip, but if something causes you to appreciate, take interest in, and be a part of how things were designed to operate (circular motion, focus of effort to produce explosive results, being in sync with what's around you, etc.), then what's wrong with that? |

Christianity/ The Bible
I am a Christian, though not the usual type. I believe the main points that make up Christianity: Jesus the Christ is the Son of God, He died for our sins and paid the price once and for all, and that by Him is the only way to be saved from damnation. Besides the basics, I am usually rather always questioning the previously accepted opinions of what others say the Bible says. As I state on my main page, I'm quite cautious. I'm also a literal person, so the poetic verse of the Bible is troubling for me. I just know that, for a long time, I had no peace and not much sanity while I kept considering what others told me about the Bible. One day, I decided to think for myself, concerning what the Bible/God says. I'm a little bit more relaxed now, most of the time. I still get depressed, etc., but it is no longer for the same reasons. I'd elaborate, but I want this to be a regular-sized web page. God bless all who visit this page, by the way. |

Contact Juggling | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This is a form of juggling in which the object being juggled never leaves the body. If you don't know what it is, just rent "Labyrinth", and you'll see some within the first ten minutes. It usually involves glass spheres, but canes, balls, and discs have been used once in a while as well. I just recently, finally, got a sphere and an instructional video. Yaaaaaaay!
Etymology | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
I've also found much interest in the discovery of where words come from, probably since vocabulary was the subject I liked in school and also probably because I am a literal person. Here are a couple of examples of some word origins: Trivia: comes from the Latin words "tri" and "via" which means "three paths", referring to the spontaneity and randomness of what "trivia" now means. Algebra- comes from Arabic words "al" and "jebr", meaning "to reconnect that which has been broken, and of course, algebra problems are broken or split up and you have to work your way through them to find the variable, making both sides of the equal sign the same, sort of like reconnecting. |

Marionnettes | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
the kind of puppets that require strings to control them, I have always liked them. Other types of puppets used to scare me when I was younger, but marionnettes never did, although they should have, because of how they move. I once made my own marionnette, and was very pleased that I did something artistic myself. Unfortunately, it was in a fire, so it is no longer with me, but I did mangage to take some photos of it before the fire. Click here to see them.

Martial Arts | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
I have been interested in Chinese martial arts for a long time, but only really got interested in the last 6 years or so. The circular motion and the great health benefits, not to mention the confidence-building aspects, are a couple of traits that I admire about this particular martial art(s). My favourite styles are Monkey, Choy Li Fut, White Crane, Snake, Drunkard, and Praying Mantis. Heck! I like just about any of them. There are also a few non-Chinese arts I really find amazing and interesting as well, such as Goju-Ryu Karate, Hwa Wrang-Do, most of the Filipino martial arts, and Wun Hop Kuen Do, plus Samurai sword katas (I really don't know exactly what Japanese art that belongs to). European fencing also interests me as well. I hope one day to be able to learn any of the styles I am interested in. If I do, then that will be yet another page for you to visit. Up until about a month ago, there were no such styles or arts being instructed near where I live. I intend to inquire soon about the place that just recently opened that seems to teach a hybrid of Kenpo and Wushu, somehow, and that is as close as I can get to what I'm interested in.. Long live the martial arts, and what they teach, represent, and help you do!!! |

Model Kits | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
I did model kits as a tyke, from about age 7 to age 11, then stopped. They were mostly cars, airplanes, motorcycles and tanks. Anyway, monster & cartoon model kits got really popular in the early 90's, so I jumped on the model building boat for a while. A lot of really fascinating characters and vehicles came out at the time, from many different countries. Anyway, I worked on not a lot of model kits then, but a good amount. Unfortunately, like my puppet, most of them perished in the aforementioned fire. I'd like to get into doing them again. Here are some photos of the few I have left or that I've done since the fire.

Stereoimagery | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Stereo images are one of the greatest imitations of nature. The main type of 3D illusion most people are usually familiar with is the anaglyph (red/blue or red/green) image, like the ones in the image to the left here.. In any medium, the effect is very, well, effective, and surreal at the same time, providing the screen is big enough to let the full effect take place. This is another interest of mine that most people say I seem rather obsessed with as well. Have you ever seen a 3D movie? I really miss them. I've only seen about three or so in a theatre. I really do wish I could view just about every one of them ever made. Every once in a while one still comes out or has a segment in 3-D, about one 3-D movie each decade. There are advances being made in this field; Disney has made a couple of 3D movie attractions, and then there is IMAX. They are moving the technology along at a very fast pace, and it is a little bit safer, as well as more effective. It's not just for entertainment. Professions that use stereoimagery technology and devices are science, medicine and geography, both here and in the solar system. I have my own stereocamera, and take stereopictures. Mine is a prism-type, so the effect is not quite as good as it could be, but it is great. I now have about 10 3-D movies on DVD and/or VHS, along with the impressive new "field sequential" 3-D viewing system that you need in order to view field sequential stereoimagery. I can't wait to watch 'em all. I recently got a 3-D attachment lens for my videocamera with convergence control, so I'll be able to make my own 3-D movies. Wow-weeeee! Whatever form it is in: whether anaglyph, field sequential, freeview (a cross-eyed method of viewing), movie, photo, comic book, I dig it. |
