The 7500 Series were ordered to give the CTA room to move older cars to Michigan Island, and to fill car shortages on the system.  After delays due to war shortages, the 7500's arrived in 2006 in a group of 450. With the extra rolling stock, new lines were opened, while others received service improvments. The cars were a hit with riders because they combined exterior features of the 6000's and High Performance Family, while delivering a swift and smooth ride. CTA and MITS put in four more orders until the cars totaled 1,050, making this the most widely used car in the fleet. The cars had revolutionary enviromental controls, puncture resistant cushioned seats, and advanced braking and accelerationsystems.
Some cars were delivered with pantographs for Eastman service. The first car expierimented with an old concept as a double ended car. This was car 7500, still serving today.
                       *DISCLAIMER*
These cars are my own concept (body design anyway, as I don't own a prototype or the means to run it.) The Chicago Transit Authority has made no inquiry about this design and this is not the next generation car of the CTA.
