SANA Christian
Counselling Services
You shall know the truth, and the truth will make you free. (John 8:32)
SANA Christian Counselling Service is affiliated to the Singapore Anti-Narcotics Association. The inception of SANA CCS began at the end of 1976 when the Singapore Government decided to enlist the help of the Social Services and Religious Bodies in Sinagpore.

The initial response came from the St. Andrew's Cathedral and a nucleus of concerned Christian leaders. In 1977, a committee was formed under the leadership of Rev. Frank Lomax. It was Rev. Lomax who briefed the newly formed committee concerning the urgency of setting up a "Christian Witness" not only to help eradicate the drug scene in Singapore, but more so, to raise a band of Christians from all denominations to undergo training and render volunteer service for the rehabilitation of drug victims with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This concerned nucleus decided to inaugurate the "Christian Counselling Service", and through the hospitality of the Anglican Diocese, was offered to share the residency of the Anglican Church at No. 60 Hill Street, which was then occupied by the Anglican Social Services.

In the late 70's, CCS launched a dual strategy. The organisation:

     - obtained prison passes for volunteer service in many Government Rehabilitation Centres, and

     - initiated many training sessions in several churches and centres to meet the overflowing demand of the
concerned Christians for a good cause.

Many members volunteered to be trained as "SANA Speakers" and were sent to visit secondary schools, polytechnics, colleges and universities to present the drug problem in Singapore.

In 1987 the Government provided CCS with a place at No. 10 Seng Poh Road to help CCS render more effective and efficient service.

Our work today continues with both Incare and Aftercare services with the aim of rehabilitating the whole person. In 2002 the Grace Fellowship was birthed to cater for the needs of ex-offenders by complementing the works done by various institutions such as DRCs, Prisons, SANA, NCADA and individuals.

In the past many decades we have seen the love, grace, mercy and power of Jesus Christ transforming the lives of former drug abusers to become Christian leaders, successful businessmen, good and responsible husbands and wives, pastors, musicians and even directors of Christian Halfway Houses.

To God be all glory and honour for the countless wonderful things He has done through the Christian Counselling Service, Singapore.
