IN MANIWAKI

When he returned East, Father Fafard took a year of rest in Rougemont. Then, François-Xavier pursued fervently his missionary work for twenty-four years in Maniwaki. He built the chapel which would be used from then on by the Algonquin Community. Twice a year, he visited all the families. During the first visit, he extended his Season's Greetings and during the second one, in july, he would invite his people to attend the great mission which took place in August. He truly enjoyed teaching catechism, which was his favorite ministry.

In the Fall of 1925, Father Fafard made a pilgrimage to Rome. His Grace Guillaume Forbes, Archbishop of Ottawa, led the pilgrimage. He presented the Missionary of the Firts Nations to Pope Pius X1, who talked to him at length and who blessed him.
