My Brother
Gehrig Joseph Remy

Sent to live on earth
December 15, 1944

Went home to Heaven
May 9, 1995

He was only 50 years old.

My Daddy loved baseball and played the position of catcher.
He named my brother Gehrig after Lou Gehrig.

Gehrig love baseball also.

But he was more interested in serving his country.
He left school to join the Navy at 17.

He was in the Navy and in Vietnam. He had to do a lot of things he did not want to do, but he served his country well.

My brother did not die in the war, but he did loose his life in the service of his country. When he came home from his years of service, he could not cope with all the things he was ordered to do.

He did live on the street, and in boxes - too proud to ask us for a helping hand. Or maybe just too tired of trying to cope. Life after Vietnam was hard for him.

Yes, it is a shame that our citizens that defend our country are not cared for more when "the job is done".

I Love You

He turned to the "bottle" and drank himself to death. He was an alcoholic. Even though we tried to help him, he never was able to stop drinking. So I beg of you, PLEASE, if you have a problem, GET SOME HELP.

Most of all turn to GOD. He loves you and CAN and WILL help!

Gehrig had four sons and one daughter.
He loved all of his children very much.

Mom found this and gave it to him
after his youngest son was born.

Lord lead my brother home I pray
Release his soul from sin this day.
Set his feet in the right path to stay
As only you can make the way.
Teach him to trust you every day
Walk in your footsteps and to pray.
Open his heart to let you in
And free him from this guilt of sin.
Renew his mind and let it
Be consecrated Lord Thee.
Take his life and let it shine
With all your light and love sublime.
Then will he walk and never fall
And Lord he will know the best of all.
You Our God!!
