Note:
This Cavalry Company formed almost entirely of seventeen year old boys from different counties of the State, equipped themselves and organized when the Reserves were called out in 1864. After training a few weeks in Greenville County, they were ordered to the coast. Being attached part of the time to the 1st Regiment of Cavalry, they were in a great many engagements from the Savannah to the Pee Dee Rivers, notably Adams Run, Honey Hill, Monks [sic] Corner. Going into service at the hardest time they gave some of their best blood to the Cause. They disbanded in North Carolina at the close of the War.
The muster roster essentially came from Compiled Service Record microfilm with "born about" and "enlisted from... TWP" added from 1870 Census. The unit was an independent company and apparently served with both the 1st and 2nd Battalion of State Troops Senior Reserves. They are at times shown with both. The above should be used as a guide for additional research.
