The long road to the schoolhouse has come to an end. Air Force Sergeant Steve German hung up the headphones on 14 Aug 2004. Steve is headed to San Antonio, TX to start a new chapter in his life and career. To the loyal fans of "Z-FM's Schoolhouse Rock"... Steve has the following to say: "It's been one hell of a ride! To everyone that tuned in every Saturday, to those that tuned in when they could, to those that tuned in every once in a while, I owe you my deepest respect and gratitude. Schoolhouse Rock has been a complete success judging by the number of phone calls and emails we received on a weekly basis. We did the show for you and you accepted it. That is the most gratifying feeling in the world. From a local show heard only in Frankfurt, to a show that was heard all over Europe, to a taste of home for the Soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan...it's been like one big party. I can't express in words the sorrow I feel that the show had to end, but it's bitter sweet in knowing that I built this baby from the ground up and she took off like a rocket. Unfortunately, I have to lay this show to rest. I feel like we did it properly and I sincerely respect the work done by everyone. There are so many unsung heros at AFN that I'm sure I'll leave someone out, but thanks go to our engineering department for keeping us on the air in the most dire of conditions. From crashed computers, to simply reminding me that I had to turn the microphone on, in order to be heard, I owe you my deepest respect and thanks. To LTC Mike Edrington... Sir, thank you for the opportunity to not only live my dream... but to exceed it. To LTC Ricky Sims... Sir, thank you for letting me continue to live my dream and requesting some Skynyrd. To our volunteers like Wil Ripley and Bridget Schuy who gave up their Saturdays to help bring the show to the level it was. To Hetti-Poo the wonder dog who sat still long enough for me to get a good picture of her with headphones and sunglasses on and stayed quiet during our mic breaks...I love you sweety! To Sean Patrick, Hank Minitrez, Kevin Nichols and Trevor Pedro, thanks for filling in as substitute DJs when I needed you. There are only a few people I'd trust with my baby... and you are the select few. To our "peanut gallery" visitors, thanks for making the show so much fun to do! It was like a party every Saturday morning. To our regular callers... Irene, Tony the bus driver, Walt, Rudolph the Weather Guy, Uncle Udo, Dan the tattoo man, Christine from Stuttgart, Daytona Ed, Debra Torraca, Brother Dean, The Infamous Bruman, Robert "Muffin Man" Kelly and the countless numbers of those of you I've left out thanks for keeping us awake and keeping the show rockin'. Finally, last but not least, to my dear wife Irene... words can't say how much you mean to me. You are my rock. You encouraged me to pursue my dream. You stayed strong when times got tough. You put up with me being gone Saturday mornings when you'd rather spend time with me. You listened and suggested things I could improve. You listened to air checks in the car when you'd rather listen to something else. You are my inspiration and the love of my life. I love you.

In closing, Schoolhouse Rock has been and will always be very near and dear to my heart. From a desire to just do radio again, to a remarkable success it's been a blast and too much fun. Thank you again for tuning in and one last time... ROCK ON BABY!"

Well, this used to be a place where you could sign the chalk board and have your name in lights on the web...but the guestbook service started charging for services. They used to be free...so...they've been removed due to not playing fair. They have to sit in the corner and wear the dunce cap until they change their attitude.
