A Brief on the State The state of South Dakota was part of the Louisianna Purchase. It has a very strong traditional midwest feel. It is mainly an agricultural state. It is not uncommon to see forgotten farm houses in the rural areas, and abondoned buildings in the citites. The major cities are Sioux Falls (in the South East corner), Rapid City (in the West nestled in the Black Hills), Brookings, Aberdeen, and Watertown (all in the Western part of the state). |
