New Hamster

PINEAPPLES!!!

Pineapples is a female Black Bear hamster. She was bought at the local Petsmart for $24 on July 17, 2000 at about 11:15 AM. She is approxamatley 2 months old, and she was living with her 2 sisters, one of which had no eyes. These pictures were taken with a digital camera, for temporary purposes only. Many pictures were taken on Pineapples' first day with us, and we'll add them as soon as they get developed.

Pineapples is about 3½ inches long. She is very calm, but does vibrate with anticipation when being held (like most younger hamsters). She is currently living in a Safari cage, and loves using her wheel. She seems to be very un-nocturnal, and social. She even seems interested in Mr. Po-Po~!

Black Bear hamsters, so I've noticed, have smaller eyes. I am assuming this is to allow more brain space in their tiny little heads, but I may be wrong. However, Pineapples has very small eyes compared to other Syrian hamsters. She is all black, except for white "socks", and little patches of white fur that look like drool under her mouth and on her abdomen. She even has jet black ears, so it looks like they are furry. This is unusual for Syrian hamsters, who all have paper-thin ears with no fur. Her sisters were like this, too. I've noticed that Black Bear hamsters are scarce in America, and many of the Black Bear hamsters for sale are sick.
