OUTDOOR COOKING |
in a Box Oven |
A Box Oven is a medium sized cardboard box (about 2 x 2 x 2 1/2 feet) whose inside has been covered with several layers of aluminum foil. The foil is best affixed with Duct Tape (though any tape will do), and no tape should be visible on the inside of the box. Charcoal is heated separately. (Wood coals will usually catch the box on fire.) When hot, they are placed on a pan or piece of foil on the ground. Form a rack to place your dish upon, using bricks, rocks, or soda cans filled with water. Then cover the dish and coals with the box oven. Be sure to prop up a corner of the oven with a medium-sized rock to ventilate the oven. |
