This is a gathering place for Progressive Naturalists (Agnostics, Atheists, Brights, Secular Humanists and other progressive Freethinkers) who want to discuss creating an exceptionally rewarding life experience within the context of an: education and science-based, technologically advanced, therapeutic, self-reliant, egalitarian and eco-friendly community farm setting. Our Therapeutic Ecovillage is being designed as a community enterprise where the members share equally in the rewards of all production and distribution efforts. Our community will consist of four fully integrated components, with each part serving the dual functions of: (1) providing for the immediate and long-term direct needs of community members and (2) generating revenue from outside sources. The Farm: An organic experimental farm, based on the principles associated with Permaculture will ground our project. a) It will provide year-round delicious organic sustenance for residents & guests. b) It will serve as a hands-on training facility for the farming-related components of our 'Life Improvement Curriculum' (Permaculture, animal husbandry, food preparation, and more). c) Surplus agricultural products will deliver revenues from outside sources. d) It will engage in experimental organic farming. The Resort: A ‘Life Improvement Therapeutic Resort’ will provide life enhancement training and support services to those individuals, couples, and families who are our guests. We will feature a comprehensive set of programs that are theoretically grounded in ecology, the science of human behavior and secular ethics: Behavior Analysis (EAB and ABA), Human Performance Improvement Technologies, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Secular Humanism, Permaculture, and various non-mystical Eastern Practices. The retreat will include: a) A Hotel b) A Restaurant and Tavern c) A Spa (yoga, meditation, massage, sauna, exercise facilities and other personal services) d) Recreational Facilities The Ecoversity: Education, Research and Administration Center: Our entire community is a center for education and research. And, given that the essence of our mission is to engage in research and education activities to develop cultural systems and technologies that promote the enrichment of human and planetary life, it might be prudent for us to organize ourselves as an eduational institution (of one kind or another): an Ecoversity. We will engage in a wide range of interdisciplinary vocational, technical and professional training and research. A facility might be designed to house these activities and others related to community administration. It would function as: an interdisciplinary research and training center, a library, an Eupraxophy Center, a Business Center, a Children’s School, a Meeting Hall, an Arts Center, an Audio/ Video Production Facility and more. Peripheral Businesses: Additional products and services for direct community use and for outside revenues will be derived from factors related to our mission and from the unique interests and marketable skills that individual members bring to the enterprise. Our Therapeutic Experimenting Community will: 1) provide 'Quality of Life' education, training & support services for: community members, the individuals, families, couples and groups who join us as guests and for future generations of humankind. 2) demonstrate the exceptional lifestyle and individual happiness that is derived from living rationality, communally and ethically. 3) grow and replicate. |
