This site was founded on Feb 25, 2004.

Our purpose: For amateur poets from any profession,
gender, country etc. to share their works (in English).

We don't have grand vision or mission statements.
No fancy prizes to entice you to submit or read. No
strict guidelines on Dos and Don'ts. We trust you to
adopt appropriate net etiquette and basic common
sense.

If you've always wanted to share your poems but have
been too shy to do so, just submit yours with a
nickname.

What if people don't like my poems?
What if my poem is not good enough?

Does it matter? What's the worse that could happen?
We're all amateurs here.

Why join us? How are we different from the
thousands of novice poetry clubs out there?

Most members probably have no formal training in
poetry reading or writing. We'd like to think
that the club is for Serious Amateurs who want
to have Fun. Contradiction in terms?
That's life, isn't it?

Whether you write amateur poems or just read them,
we welcome your participation.

We have no strict rules. We only ask that members adopt these general guidelines:

(1) One poem a week
Poems are like wine -- allow others
to enjoy it one sip at a time. You'd
want others to have enough time
to read and appreciate your work.

(2) Share your thoughts
     Share your thoughts and comments
     about other people's work. You
don't need formal training to do
this. This group is FOR and BY
     amateurs.

(3) Have good, clean FUN!
     Enough said :)
.
Why "Seeds" and "Light"?

Seeds grow.

And
Light is, well, many things.
It allows us to see.
It's a feeling, a sensation.
Illumination. Awareness.
A thing. A state of mind.

Poems are really like
Seeds of Light:
Ideas that germinate into something
greater.
They make you blink;
they make you think.
