A Sequence Dance is a set 16-bar routine that is repeated throughout the whole of the music, with every couple dancing the same steps, travelling in the same direction at the same time, thus avoiding collision with any other couple ........that's the theory but is doesn't always work that way! Some couples attend Social Sequence Dances while others like the Modern Sequence Dances .........................................................whichever you prefer enjoy yourself |
What is a Sequence Dance ????? |
Modern Sequence caters for those dancers who prefer the newest and latest dances. Quite a few of the regular sequence dancers like to be the first to learn the newest dances and will not dance the older ones. Is this because ................................they cannot remember them ................................they haven't got the ability to dance them ............................................or just one upmanship we ask ourselves? Want to know more about who invents these new dances then go to our Inventive Dance Page |
Social Sequence covers the well-known dances, such as the Square Tango and Mayfair Quickstep. Some of these dances have been danced since the early 1900's and are as polular now as they were then. People who tend only to dance when they go on holiday or for a drink and a game of Bingo at "the club" plump for these. Is this because ...they haven't had the opportuinity/inclination to learn the newer dances .....................................are so set in their ways and are afraid of a challenge ...........................................................or just too lazy to try we ask ourselves? |
Dance Sequence promotes all Sequence Dances We feels the older dances deserve respect, after all if it weren't for them the Modern Sequence Dances wouldn't exist. We know we have to move forward but let's not forget our roots and resurrect and "old one" now and again. In our experience you always hear a member say "I remember dancing this when........................" |
