Chapter Four

Very early in the morning...

"Okay, I left a note for mom, I have a very large lunch packed, I got my watch, and I got my nail file," I whispered, ticking off points on my fingers as I talked. It sounded like I had remembered everything. I didn't have my jacket though. It was in my closet. I had a feeling that I really didn't need it.

One thought pushed into my mind: glass piece. I had put the piece of glass in my scrap book, so I didn't have that either. That little bit of junk would remind me for all eternity about the well.

Smiling, I quietly crept out of the house and towards the woods. I was going back through the well, and this time I planned to have some fun. I did have to be back for supper. Nadia was coming over for supper and then spending the night.

As I walked, I thought about whether or not to tell Nadia about the well. She would love to meet Inuyasha and the others. She had pictures of the whole group all over her folders and notebooks. I, at least, knew what the good guys were suppose to look like... I just didn't know which name went with which face.

Humming a little song to myself, I stepped into the old building and approached the well. "Here I go," I said to myself, and jumped in.

I hit the bottom of the well and the dust swirled about me again. Coughing, I threw my book bag full of food up and out.

"What in the seven hells?" a male voice shouted.

Curious, I climbed out to see who had yelled. It was a man. He appeared to be no older than me with empty, blue eyes and long black hair in a ponytail. A red piece of cloth went around his head. His ears were pointed, and he was dressed a little strangely. Not many men walk around wearing armor and fur.

"Hello?" I said, looking him up and down. He looked rather familiar.

"Who are you?" he asked me.

"No kitsune brat?" I asked, flicking one of my fox ears. "You're a whole lot more polite than Fluffy was. Oh... I'm Katrina. Nice to meet you."

"It's nice to meet you too," he replied a little hesitantly.

"Aren't you going to tell me your name?" I inquired. I was really having trouble figuring out who he was. His name was on the tip of my tongue.

"Kouga," he answered.

"Oh," I said. "Now why aren't you chasing after Kagome? Isn't that what you usually do?"

"Kagome finished her quest and married the dogturd," he told me. A look of surprise crossed his face. "How do you know about me and Kagome?"

I thought how to best answer him. I couldn't tell him about the well, although why he hadn't commented on me appearing out of the well was beyond me. "Don't ask. I can't tell." I paused. "Finished what quest?"

"She was looking for the pieces of the Shikon no Tama," Kouga replied. "Don't you know that? I thought that all youkai knew about the shikon."

"Not me," I told him with a sigh. I suddenly decided to tell Kouga a little bit more about me, just to see what he would say. "I just became a youkai."

"What were you before?" he asked.

"A human," I answered with a small giggle. Kouga had made the funniest face. "It's strange, but it happened."

"How?" Boy, were his questions simple.

"I am really not sure," I replied. "But maybe you can tell me why you were by the well. Shouldn't you be with your pack?"

"The well reminded me of Kagome's well," Kouga answered me. (AN: okay, I really don't know if Kouga knew about the well, but in my story, he does.)

"The well that she used to go from her time to this time?" I wondered.

"Yeah," he said sadly.

"You really need to cheer up. Kagome was NOT your woman," I told him firmly.

I wasn't sure why I thought I could get away with ordering around a demon, but I had done it anyway. Maybe it was because I had heard so many things about him. I guess that if you know enough about a person, you feel like you know them before you've even met them.

"And Inuyasha is not a dogturd. He may be a stupid, violent, arrogant, self-centered jerk, but he is not a dogturd," I added. "And he loves Kagome, and Kagome loves him back."

"How do you know all this?" Kouga looked at me, confusion on his face.

I had a feeling that it was time to actually give him a straight answer. "My friend Nadia told me. If you'll be here tomorrow morning, I'll see if I can bring her to meet you. I know that she'll want to meet you." I smiled at him.

"You're very strange," he told me.

"Yeah well, that's not what Fluffy thinks," I said.

"Who's Fluffy?"

"Um..." I had to think for a moment. The guy's name was so long. "I'm not quite sure. Sessho... Semaru... I give up. His was some kind of demon lord. He has long silver hair, and he hates my guts."

"Sesshoumaru..." Kouga said. He was looking at something behind me instead of at me. It was kind of strange, but I shrugged it off. He was weird, and I decided to leave it at that.

"That's it," I stated, smiling. When Kouga didn't respond, I turned around to see what he was looking at. Fluffy was standing behind me. "Oh, shit."
